about

Now a classic in the field, used by students of the Golden Dawn as well as by those who want to understand Crowley's tarot. This is the definitive study of the Egyptian tarot and is used as a key to all Western mystery disciplines. Color plates of eight cards.
Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), who claimed to be the re-incarnation of Dr. John Dee among others, lived in England from 1875 through 1947. He was a poet, mountaineer, secret agent, magus, libertine, and prophet - was dubbed by the tabloids "The Wickedest Man in the World."

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Must- Read for Anybody with the Thoth Deck In addition to being jammed packed with symbolisms, the Thoth deck also contains concepts that are unique to this deck as they are based off the teachings of Thelema. As such, anyone who uses this deck should really should read up on it if they want to get the most out of it. Unfortunately, you'll probably also need other books that explains this book because it is very hard to understand (this being the only reason why I didn't rate it with 5 stars).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredible The first real tarot book. This changed my whole experience with intuition and tarot! A must read for true tarot lovers. I gave it 4 stars just because it's quite complex , not smooth or light reading but it's to be expected when it comes to ancient knowledge.

From Our Editors

The Book of Thoth is both an essential companion to the tarot deck of the same name and a comprehensive reading for students of the Golden Dawn. Aleister Crowley’s text, in print since 1969, contains the definitive interpretation and study of the Egyptian tarot, and provides elucidation for Western practitioners. The Book of Thoth: Being the Equinox Vol. III, No. 5 contains eight full-colour plate reproductions of relevant tarot cards.
