The Biographical Inventory represents one of the first, if not the first, successful attempt to predict pilot proficiency from biographical data.

Also, it should be remembered that biographical data have often been used in informal interviews. Psychiatric examination of candidates for ?ight training often includes questions dealing with the individual's past history. John son (8) has pointed out that biographical data, if properly used, are extremely valu able in the selection of individuals for aeronautical training.
