about

When a new girl joins her class, Madoka Kaname feels she recognizes the mysterious, dark-haired transfer student from one of her dreams...a dream where she is approached by a cat-like creature who offers Madoka an opportunity to change destiny. Madoka had always thought magic was the stuff of fantasy...until she sees the transfer student fighting with the very cat-being from her dream! And just like in Madoka's dream, the cat gives her a choice: Will Madoka become a Puella Magi in exchange for her dearest desire? What will be the cost of having her wish come true?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deceiving The cover makes you think that it's going to be another magical girl anime with the cliche. Think again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breathes new life into the magical girl genre Madoka's manga is every bit as enchanting as the anime. Excellent art with a story which is just the right length to not wear out its welcome at any point. Dark, beautiful, and haunting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Interesting Start I'm borrowing this series from my nephew as he told me it was dark and he loved it. I'm not too sure where this is going in the first volume yet. I'm intrigued. It seems to be typical shojo fantasy at first, but there is something off about these magical girls, the dialogue is quite depressing, and we come to realize these magical girls' lives are not all fun and games. The art, however, is usual cutesy shojo form. I'm definitely interested in continuing on wth the series but not sure whether this will win me over yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely amazing and beautiful and good manga! Hey, are you watching the magical girl shows just for kids? Have they just changed to the TEEN rating? Well, remember the good old days watching Sailor Moon and Pretty Cure, Card Captor Sakura? Well, this is a very dark anime and it somewhat is amazing. I have watched this anime in english dub and sub. Even bought the manga. It has a more darker theme after the first two chapters. It may give you a little tears flowing out of your eyes.. I'm sure you'll love it. I find kids 9 and over would like this anime. it's not supposed to be 16+ but it's supposed to be 13+ due to the blood, it's not scary enough :) so don't worry about buying it to the kids 9 and over. It's sad. But in the end it'll turn out all fine :)
