about

Lizzie Nichols is back, pounding the New York City pavement and looking for a job, a place to live, and her proper place in the universe (not necessarily in that order).

"Summer Fling" Luke's use of the "L" (Living Together) word has her happily abandoning plans to share a one-room walk-up with best friend Shari in exchange for cohabitation with the love of her life in his mom's ritzy Fifth Avenue pied-à-terre. Lizzie's landed a non-paying gig in her chosen field—vintage wedding gown rehab—and a paying one as a receptionist at Shari's boyfriend's father's posh law firm. So life is good . . . for the moment.

But almost immediately her notoriously big mouth is getting her into trouble. At work she's becoming too chummy with society bride-to-be Jill Higgins, inflaming the ire of Jill's troublesome future mother-in-law. At home she's made the grievous error of bringing up the "M" (Marriage) word to commitment-shy Luke. Once again joblessness and homelessness are looming large for hapless blabbermouth Liz—unless she can figure out some way to babble her way to a happily ever after.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to the series I loved the first book and this one just the same. You laugh out loud in some parts and find yourself empathizing with Lizzie as she tries to find her place in the world. A great read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous book This sequel to the Queen of Babble series was just as good as the first book. I picked up the third in the series even before I finished this book because I just could not wait to see how Lizzie Nichols makes out in the end.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I Don't Enjoy Chick Lit... This Didn't Help. It's impossible for me to judge whether this story was good or not... mostly because it tends to stand for a lot of things I had about books for women these days. A lot of chick lit seems to center around vaguely vapid girls who are overly concerned with money and fashionable brands. This really wasn't what I thought it was when I picked it up, but I should have known better. I guess if that's your thing you'll enjoy it all... but outside of that, it just got on my nerves.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Fastastic Book! Queen of Babble in the Big City is a wonderful book! I absolutely loved it! It is a worthy follow-up to Queen of Babble and I can't wait for the next installment in the story of Lizzie Nichols. The writing is witty and funny and such a joy to read. I found myself laughing out loud so many times as Lizzie's voice rang true to her character and the story. The 300-plus pages flew by as the story of Lizzie in New York with her new boyfriend and her vintage bridal restoration business unfolded. Meg Cabot is truly an author who captures the essence of a character and writes in such an easy and enjoyable style that I will seek out all of her books in the future. And with the last sentence of this book - I want to read the next book already! How could you not?!!
