If you believe you are stuck in the past, recognize that prior negative experiences are affecting your present life, confused about a strained relationship; then ‘Quest for Happiness’ could conceivably be the most important book you will ever read. As human beings we search for career contentment; peace within ourselves and intimacy with others. However millions of us charge forward without first understanding our own goals, life purpose or our own definition of happiness. This can lead to confusion, feeling unfulfilled, fear and other negativities. With a soothing sense of assurance, knowledge and experience the author, Bride Doyle presents her FTA approach for handling difficult relationships. Her approach is back to basics, having a powerful impact towards building a healthy life and relationships. FEEL, THINK, ACT (FTA) will help you develop improved coping skills. Journaling and relaxation techniques are encouraged; therefore a she has included a wonderful, calming relaxation CD. The contents are best learned by participating in her challenging questions. Space is provided for your responses. Emotions are defined and can be either positive or negative. Listen to your body, learning to respond to its reactions. Both emotions motivate you towards the right decisions. Clarify your needs and take responsibility for you actions, fully acknowledging there will be consequences. Effective communication skills are a tremendous asset to every aspect of life. Your approach to and timing for a discussion are paramount to a positive response. Remember to listen, be direct and for a looming difficult situation, perhaps practice what you need to say before beginning the conversation. This book can be used individually or easily modified for a facilitator’s use in a group environment. The author, Bride Doyle has been an educator, counselor and group facilitator for more than twenty years. She has been actively involved within the educational system, continues to write seminars and provide individual counseling. Being a member of two women’s groups that focus on personal, spiritual development she does a lot of research, of which we are benefiting from.
