Rated 5 out of 5 by from For Parents and Grandparents. As an older person, I realize that there have been many changes in the style of parenting since my parents and myself were tackling this wonderful job. Unfortunately none of us can claim that we have done a perfect job. This book certainly opened my eyes to a lot of ways to overcome mistakes that I made and I found myself saying time and time again, "What a wonderful idea" or "What a wonderful way to handle that situation. Why didn't I ever think of doing that myself?". Now that I am hoping to be a grandparent, I want to be "armed" with the best knowledge on how to raise an independent, happy child (not that I plan to interfere) and I will make sure that my son is "armed" with this excellent book so that just maybe he can do a perfect job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best parenting book I have read Truly, this book puts so many important threads, into one, very realistic and applicable approach to raising great kids. I love the slant on coming from a place of love, but also strength and working towards self-reliant kids. I really found this book helpful and was able to make simple changes in the moments with my kids that have made a positive difference. I will read it again as my younger kids continue to grow.
