Years ago, the enormous, enigmatic alien  spacecraft called Rama sailed through our solar system as  mind-boggling proof that life existed -- or  had existed -- elsewhere in the  universe. Now, at the dawn of the twenty-third century,  another ship is discovered hurtling toward us. A  crew of Earth's best and brightest minds is  assembled to rendezvous with the massive vessel. They  are armed with everything we know about Raman  technology and culture. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Continuing the story of RAMA I found this one a bit slow, but necessary to set up the later storyline. Still a great read and follows that classic amazing Clark sci-fi style

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alberta Its obvious in comparing Rendezvous with Rama to its sequel that either Clarke had a major change in his writing style, or Lee did most of the writing. The two books are like night-and-day to each other. Because the stage was set from the first book, Rama II focuses almost entirely on characterization, and it is rich in plots and sub-plots that are very intriguing. Rama has returned to the solar system, and again a mission is launched to explore its interior. But this time most of the cosmonauts are there for personal gain, leading to murder, death and lots of back-stabbing. This is a book that will grip you and keep you awake at night while reading it.

From Our Editors

Decades have passed since Commander Norton and his crew met with the enormous alien ship dubbed Rama and declared it an intelligent robot with no interest in the creatures of our solar system. But now another ship has been sighted near Earth, and this time, humanity will discover startling--perhaps deadly--differences.
