Rated 5 out of 5 by from good book We had to read this boom for grade seven english, and my first thought was that it would be totally boring and dull. After reading a few chapters, I realised how well written the book is and how intriguing it is. This book is much more than just a dinosur book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Raptor Red What can I say?? Dr. Bakker has written a book that is really fun and a good read, not just for dinosaur fans. Bakker takes us right into Raptor Red's head and allows us to see, in amazing, vivid detail, just what the world of Cretaceous Utah was like all those aeons ago. The book supports a lot of the current dinosaur theories and delivers a story that I can only call classic Bakker - a novel fit for the silver screen. Pick up Raptor Red today and delve into the mind of this extraordinary creature known only to us as a female Utahraptor known as Raptor Red. This is a must read for anyone who likes a good read or, like me, is a real dinosaur buff. Raptor Red scores a 5/5, get this one today, you'll be glad you did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Life Unknow As a dinosaur fan, I have to say this book made me even more interested in these extinct creatures. The book Raptor Red, even though there isn't much known about exactly how dinosaur's lived, gave me a great deal of insight to how they might have lived. This book touched me on many levels, from the loss of Raptor Red's mate and how depaired she felt to the happiness she felt when she united with her off-spring. This book depicts Raptor Red's (utahraptor's) fight for survival and various other things, such as how her maternal instincts kicked in when she was with the young utahraptors. This book has taught me a lot of things about dinosaurs that I did not know before. I believe it is a good way to spark people's interests in dinosaurs. I feel I could write much more on this book, but I dont want to give away everything for future readers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Original concept. Raptor Red is an intriguing book, one that all dino-fans are sure to love. The book follows the life of a female Utahraptor dubbed Rator Red because of the way she labels herself in her mind. The book paints a perfect picture of the life of a dinosaur - from hunting to floods, and everything inbetween.

Read from the Book

Raptor Red watches and thinks. When she is feeling well fed and content and well loved, her mental powers are allowed to indulge themselves.  She can experiment. She walks parallel to the shoreline, watching the waves carefully, focusing her eyes below the surface.  She keeps her distance from the average line where the waves break. There!  She sees another huge shape cruising parallel to the shore.  She watches-and a giant head breaks surface. She stands on tiptoes, trying to look as tall as possible. She waits...   waits...   waits...Here it comes!  she shouts to herself.  She flexes her knees and ankles. An immense dark torpedo comes right at her, plowing through the breakers.Just as the head and front flippers begin to slide up the beach, Raptor Red turns and jumps four strides diagonally, upslope and to her right.Whhhmmmpp!  The big kronosaur stops exactly on the spot where Raptor Red was standing a few seconds earlier.Fssshhhh!  Foam and steam exit in two jets from the kronosaur's nostrils, just in front of the eyes.  The great sea-reptile pauses, then retreats awkwardly back to the water. The male raptor is amazed.
