Introducing a sizzling new urban fantasy series featuring Marissa Holloway, an immortal Fury who doesn't just get mad...she gets even.

As a Fury, Marissa Holloway belongs to an Arcane race that has avenged wrongdoing since time immemorial. As Boston's chief magical investigator for the past five years, she's doing what she was born to do: solve supernatural crimes.

But Riss's investigation into a dead sister Fury leads to her being inexplicably suspended from her job. And to uncover the truth behind this cover-up, she'll have to turn to her shape-shifting Warhound ex for help.

Kasey Mackenzie lives in St. Louis, Missouri. A happily married wife, mother, and writer by night, she loves to read (and write). She adores her two cats and playing softball, and has recently taken up knitting. So far she can cast on, do the knit stitch, and cast off. Hey, it’s a start!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lots of variety and fighting among paranormals A complex, non-stop thrill-ride of a story with virtually every type of supernatural imaginable thrown into the mix and battles up the wazoo. Marissa Holloway is a Fury, the supernatural world's avenger of wrong-doing. She's also the Boston police's Chief Magical Investigator. So when what initially appears to be the body of a sister-Fury is discovered, Rissa's one of the first on the scene. Except on further investigation, Rissa realizes the body isn't really her best friend Vanessa but has been somehow magically altered to look like her. And as soon as she gives this information to her bosses at the P.D. she's suspended. Then when she goes to the Fury Conclave to advise the Elders there that something is really wrong, she's brushed off by everyone except her mentor Stacia who encourages her to investigate on her own. The whole situation is complicated by the fact that mortals and paranormals have just barely begun to recover from a war between them 50 years earlier, and everyone is suspicious of everyone, with potential traitors seeming to be everywhere Rissa looks, and trusting anyone a major risk. But investigate she does, with very exciting and constantly dangerous results. The story is interesting and certainly unexpected and exciting, but I didn't really connect to the characters that much, so for me this was just an okay book. There are certainly all kinds of supernatural beings included in the story, and the way the plot plays out is thrilling with a number of unexpected twists included.
