Sherrilyn Kenyon

Orphaned as a child and raised by vampires, Abigail Yager lives for one purpose, and one purpose only: To avenge the deaths of vampires everywhere. To destroy the merciless Dark-Hunters who stalk and kill her adoptive race. But most of all, to find the one man responsible for brutally murdering her family: the ex-gunslinger Jess "Sundown" Brady.

Resurrected from death by a vengeful Greek goddess, Jess must hunt and destroy the creature who's assassinating Dark-Hunters. The last thing he expects to find is a human face behind the killings-and especially one resembling the human who'd murdered him centuries ago. Jess knows he's not the one who slaughtered Abigail's parents. But now he must convince her of his innocence-and cross the abyss between human and vampire-before the darkest of powers rises to destroy them both.

In the past two years, New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon has claimed the #1 spot fifteen times. This extraordinary bestseller continues to top every genre she writes. With more than 25 million copies of her books in print in over 100 countries, her current series include: The Dark-Hunters, Chronicles of Nick, The Leagu...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Retribution One of the best series I have read. Absolutely love the world Kenyon has created. Not a single book in this series has disappointed me so far, some books are definitely better then other. Not because they were better written but because I loved those characters more. I highly recommend it to fantasy lovers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from "Retribution" by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Book 19 in the Dark-Hunter series. I read this book in October 2014. This was my review. I liked this book although it felt different from all the other Dark-Hunter books. A whole new pantheon of Gods is introduced in this book of the Native American culture which is why it probably felt so different for me to read it because I'm not familiar with any Native American culture. I really found it quite interesting. I really liked the main characters of Jess (Sundown) and Abigail. Jess is a Dark-Hunter who gave up his soul for vengeance on the man who killed him, his best friend, on the day of his wedding. Fast-forward 186 years. Someone is killing Dark-Hunters and rumours say it's a human. When Jess comes face to face with the killer, he can't believe his eyes. She's a descendant of his long-ago bride-to-be. Her name is Abigail and he thought she died when she was 7 years old. Where has she been all this time? And why are her eyes turning red? Jess is determined to find out. Abigail is determined to kill the man that killed her parents. Her adopted Apollite family is helping her. Jess "Sundown" Brady is going to die, even if she has to kill every Dark-Hunter she comes across to get to him. But when Jess captures her and says he's innocent, she can't believe it. She saw him with her own eyes kill her parents but he keeps denying it. Everything she knows is starting to unravel and things are no longer making sense. Now her life is on the line and the man she was trying to kill is now trying to save her life. There are a lot of characters you have to keep track of. The romance between Abigail and Jess was really sweet. Yes, that's how I would describe it. The whole story takes place within two to three days under a lot of stressful situations so really there's not a lot of time for passion but their relationship is developed beautifully throughout the book. Abigail's and Jess's pasts are very connected and there are a few flashback memories that convey their history which I think was very well done. Overall, I really liked this story. **SIDE NOTE** There is a bonus scene at the end of the book featuring Acheron and Tory (and some other lovable characters from the series) and I must say....I would give the bonus scene 5 STARS on it's own! I freaking loved it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it As always with this series, I was unable to put the book down. Love every book. Who doesn't love a story where the attraction between the characters is so intense it has your own emotions twisted up? One of my favorite series so far!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh at best I am not sure what is up with this dark hunter novel. The character development is sloppy at best and the sequence of events frankly boring and predictable. Quickly falling out of love with this serries.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I expected more I'm a bit torn over how I feel about this one. While I quite liked Jess and Abby, that was pretty much where my liking the main characters ended (although I was quite happy to see Zarek.) My biggest problem came with the Native American mythology, while I on occasion do like reading novels about it, I don't feel like it fits in with the Dark Hunters. Mixing Native American mythology with Greek mythology just didn't seem to work and I found myself not caring very much. I think Jess and Abby would have done better with a different storyline. Not the best Dark-Hunter novel but certainly not the worst.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Bad This was an OK book but it wasn't the best I've read by this author. I found the story a little boring and not really in league with the other Dark Hunter novels. She tried to bring other DH into the mix but they didn't seem to fit with this character either. Even Archern wasn't in it and he fits anywhere. I am sorry that i bought the hard cover version but i was so excited to read a new DH novel that i couldn't wait. Oh well..... lesson learned

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I was so looking forward to this book as Sundown seemed like such a lovable character in Zarek's book but Sherrilyn had a hard time selling him to me. The reader never really feels a deep connection with Sundown and don't even get me started on the Native American stories that she tried to incorporate. Kudos to Sherrilyn for trying to add something new to the Dark Hunter world but her delivery of the Native American stories was extremely confusing. Even after finishing the entire book I don't think I completely understood half of what was going on. It's an "ok" read if you have absolutely nothing to read but I would wait for the paperback version and save yourself the extra money because it was definitely not worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointment The plot was soso.. and the character development was bland. I find my self skimming through pages to get the end. This book is not a keeper.
