Having thus glanced at the revivals of the period now under review, as I remember them, it is time to let the ministers whom God honored as the instruments speak for themselves, and tell us how far the views which I have given correspond with their better means of experience and observation. Their testimony I have taken where I could find it, especially from the Connecticut Evangelical Magazine, which sprung out of those revivals, and which contains quite the fullest record, I believe, that can be found in the Christian annals of the day. In making selections from the materials within my reach, I have been obliged more or less to abridge those from which I have most largely drawn; but so as to retain all their essential features.
