For decades, Gloria Steinem has lived and worked on the cusp of major social change in North America. First she led the so-called first wave of feminism, an important historical development. With Revolution from Within she argues for the autonomy of the individual in women and men of all races, economic backgrounds, abilities and sexual orientations. This is a more personal treatise from Steinem as she encourages people to trust their inner voice, to trust themselves. This is useful advice at the dawn of a new century, invaluable advice that is available for a small cost.

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Life changing. I lent my copy to a former roommate and never had it returned; however, I'm not fussed because I'd read it cover to cover at least ten times. I think what makes this book so wonderful is that it appeals to a wide range of people. It's not solely for women. It's a book about humanity and learning to value yourself. Ms. Steinem is a fantastic writer who shares intimate stories about her own experiences as well as others. The information is respectfully informative and doesn’t dumb-down the lessons with quirky gimmicks or silly analogies. It’s straight forward and honest and a book that you will read over your entire lifetime and grow from each time. I recommend this book to anyone who's working on self discovery and needs a little pep talk and to those who are interested in learning that they aren't alone in the world.
