about

Rework shows you a better, faster, easier way to succeed in business.

Most business books give you the same old advice: Write a business plan, study the competition, seek investors, yadda yadda. If you're looking for a book like that, put this one back on the shelf.

Read it and you'll know why plans are actually harmful, why you don't need outside investors, and why you're better off ignoring the competition. The truth is, you need less than you think. You don't need to be a workaholic. You don't need to staff up. You don't need to waste time on paperwork or meetings. You don't even need an office. Those are all just excuses.

What you really need to do is stop talking and start working. This book shows you the way. You'll learn how to be more productive, how to get exposure without breaking the bank, and tons more counterintuitive ideas that will inspire and provoke you.

With its straightforward language and easy-is-better approach, Rework is the perfect playbook for anyone who’s ever dreamed of doing it on their own. Hardcore entrepreneurs, small-business owners, people stuck in day jobs they hate, victims of "downsizing," and artists who don’t want to starve anymore will all find valuable guidance in these pages.
Jason Fried is the cofounder and president of Basecamp (formerly 37signals), a privately held Chicago-based company committed to building the best web-based tools possible with the least number of features necessary. With David Heinemeier Hansson, Fried is the coauthor of Getting Real: The Smarter, Faster, Easier Way to Build a Success...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple, Straight-forward An incredibly lean book. It is to the point. I was ready for its message of extreme simplicity but the book is so simple, it might make some feel they've been ripped off. I didn't feel that way. I really embraced it's message of stripping things down to their essential elements and to avoid making things unnecessarily complicated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must read for small business owners! I enjoyed every moment of reading this book and would recommend it to any person running or starting a business. Authors come with a lot of practical advice which is not something you read in a typical business book. They will teach you how to simplify things to achieve results faster and make it better. I will recommend this book to all business partners and clients with no doubt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Multi-Tool for Entrepreneurs I picked up this book after having read hundreds of books on business and leadership. I was moved by what I found in REWORK. This is definitely a must read for anyone looking to start your own business. It will definitely save you time and money but most of all, it could even save your sanity! A bonus fin this book was definitely the creativity of its layout. The pictures and cartoons were intelligent, engaging sometimes even funny

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommended The voice inside my head cried "Yes! Yes! Yes!" at the top of her little lungs as she tumbled and cartwheeled for joy while reading this book. In fact, I found myself cheering out loud at some chapters. Rework helped me reflect on my past. I could clearly identify why certain efforts were grindingly slow, fraught with frustration and sometimes failure. Rework helps me put the present into perspective, providing tangible, common sense approaches to everyday business issues. Rework will help guide the future. It will serve as a sane, logical and encouraging companion to my spirits when, at times, they will inevitably wilt. The book's chapters are short, punchy and laced with simple brilliance. A great read. Inspiring. Highly recommended. http://alexasamuels.com
