The station wagon, the tow truck, the garbage truck and the bulldozer. Every manner of machinery that moves is riotously depicted in this classic favorite. As the pig family head to the beach for a picnic, they encounter every vehicle known, from the forklift to the locomotive, and many vehicles that are not as common, from the pumpkin car to the broom-o-cycle. Each detailed spread provides tremendous opportunity to make up stories and describe situations. Will Officer Flossy catch Dingo? Will Rollo Rabbit catch his runaway steamroller? And with literally hundreds of things to look at, youngsters will spend hours trying to find Goldbug on every page.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best book ever Amazing book, must have read it a million times! my son got it when he was 1 and loved it instantly. my four year old daughter quickly too became intrigued. The kids love the action packed pages and love spotting Goldbug. Each time we read it there is something new that catches their eye. I have since bought it as a gift three times! Perfect gift for a one year old/ toddler but older siblings enjoy it too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great book I bought this for my nephew for his birthday and he loves it. The pictures are great and he uses them to make up his own stories. We have read this book to him over and over and he never tires of it. I've also seen him reading it to his little sister. I'm so glad I bought it for him. It is a great book for any child who loves cars and trucks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's like a new story everytime we crack the cover Our 2 and a half year old loves this book. We rarely get to actually read the whole story. We get too busy looking for Goldbug and talking about the interesting vehicles and about all the ridiculous situations. We easily spend 5 minutes on every page. The book was only $15, but it's work $30+.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 2-year-old son won't go to bed without reading it My son is obsessed with anything with wheels and this book has been like a dream come true for him. It's also nostalgic for me because I remember my dad reading this to me and my brother when we were growing up. Unlike so many other kids' things nothing has changed in this one since 1974 and the quaint-looking old "sports cars" and trucks just add to the charm. My older child has no interest in cars but wanders over to help find "goldbug" on each page. There is so much to look at that it is a different story each time. Definitely a gem- one of the best from one of the best authors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best book ever! My son is two and loves this book! The title is just what is inside, cars, trucks and things that go including pencil cars and more. We have so many books but every night when I ask him what book does he want to read he always asks for the "Car Book" He loves to follow the story and loves finding the Gold Bug hiding on every page.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cars and Trucks and Things That GO, This book was my favorite book when I was a little kid. That is part of the reason I gave it five stars. It is not only a fun book to read but it is also fun to look for this little yellow creature on each page. There is an Officer Flossy who rides on a bike and chases a terrible driver in a sports car throughout the entire book, while the Pig family goes on a picnic to the beach. The pictures of all the different types of vehicles are very interesting and fun to look at.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic My son is 2.4 and this book is his absolute favorite. He calls it a "Pickle truck book" and we read it to him every day for about 5 months now. Because there is so many pages, we still find new things, and the whole family enjoys looking for the Goldbug on each page. I am ordering other books by the same author- can't go wrong!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best book for boys ever Like another reviewer, we went through three copies of this book when my boys were small. I have a new copy in reserve for any visiting little boys. Look for goldbug, read two different stories, decide which vehicle you like best on each page - hours of fun! Richard Scarry is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely the best This is the best book for kids (and adults). We went through 3 copies of the hard cover edition when my kids were small the book was looked at so much. Looking for "goldbug" was an exercise in skill and having and eye for detail. Both kids and adults alike raced to see who could find him first on every page. It was months after we got the book before I even read the story to the kids, we had too much fun looking at all the crazy cars and trucks and trying to find the "bug". I have recommended this book to everyone and have will purchase a copy for my grandchild due this fall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it to bits as a kid I can't say enough about this book! I thought it was great from the time I got it (I don't know how old I was, but I'm 24 now). I loved this book so much the spine on the back was destroyed, from reading it so much. The pictures and the characters were great (Officer Flossy, a female cat cop on a bicycle, chasing Dingo Dog, a dangerous driver across the pages of the book {No mention of DUI, though}). Get it for a child who loves THINGS THAT GO!
