An angel spreads his wings. . . .

Sonny Barger is the number-one spokesman for the motorcycle experience. His New York Times bestseller, Hell's Angel, was an exhilarating history of his adventures with the world's most notorious motorcycle club. Now he brings us rousing, moving, and wildly entertaining true stories of his renegade brothers and sisters in the relentless pursuit of liberty, individuality, and the "ultimate ride."

And what stories he has to tell -- freewheeling, bare-knuckle tales of brawls and battles, brotherhood, breathtaking adventures, crazy quests, and the inevitable classic scrapes with "John Law." The most colorful legends and unforgettable characters of biker lore come alive in this book. In addition, celebrities like Steve McQueen, Johnny Paycheck, and David Crosby thunder through these pages in a sensational collection of rebel tales that runs the gamut from poignant and inspiring to thrilling and utterly outrageous.

Whether you ride, have never ridden, or dream of riding, Ridin' High, Livin' Free is a reading experience you won't soon forget -- a fascinating glimpse into a unique culture of freedom that recognizes only one commandment: the code of the road.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hmmm... Okay. Sonny, for those that don't know was the creator of the Hells Angels as we know it today. Needless to say, as a counter culture he has certainly seen things that mainstream society hasn't, which does make his books interesting reads. However this book is more of a compilation of short stories; some of his personal experiences with members of the Club, but other stories mainly pointing out how motorcycles and 1% clubs have affected non-members (and also what I personally felt that some of these people were "wannabes"). A lot of the stories read like anecdotes which can get a little tiring after a while, though a couple did have me laugh out loud. If you're looking for "Jupiter's Travels" obviously this is not it. If you want a quick reads about far-out adventures of partying, women, drinking, and fighting then this book is for you. If you like stories about guys desperate to get rid of their Japanese bikes for Harleys, then this one is for you. If you want to add to a collection, then by all means. I prefer some of Sonny's other books though, like Hells Angel, especially in contrast with LEO books (or even Hunter S Thompson's version) writing about the same events that took place.
