about

Rush pulls you headlong into the thrilling, high-stakes world of Eve Silver's teen series The Game, about teens pulled in and out of an alternate reality where battling aliens is more than a game—it's life and death. Eve Silver's teen debut offers science fiction and gaming fans romantic thrills at a breakneck pace. New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong says, "Smart and original, Rush is an action-packed ride with plenty of heart."

Sixteen-year-old Miki Jones's carefully controlled life spirals into chaos after she's run down in the street, left broken and bloody. She wakes up fully healed in a place called the lobby—pulled from her life, pulled through time and space into some kind of game in which she and a team of other teens are sent on missions to eliminate the Drau, terrifying and beautiful alien creatures. There are no practice runs, no training, and no way out. Miki has only the guidance of secretive but maddeningly attractive team leader, Jackson Tate, who says the game is more than that and what Miki and her new teammates do now determines their survival—and the survival of every other person on this planet. She laughs. He doesn't. And then the game takes a deadly and terrifying turn.

Eve Silver lives with her gamer husband and sons, sometimes in Canada but often in worlds she dreams up. She loves kayaking and sunshine, dogs and desserts, and books, lots and lots of books. The Game is Eve's first series for teens. She also writes books for adults.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looking forward to the second installment Very strongly written with great characters, but...I'm still looking for a story where a first-encounter alien invasion is handled efficiently, and unfortunately, I didn't find that here. As serious as the story is written out to be, it just falls shy. There were a few points where I was going, "Huh?" as well. For instance, during Miki's first mission where everyone is all go, go, go, but stay stealthy, and they spent a good majority just talking outside of the enemy's stronghold when time was pressing. Otherwise, the book is definitely one to check out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good first book The concept of this book was pretty darn fantastic. It was so fantastic, however, that a lot of explanation was required to make it work, which dragged at the pace and frustrated me a little. As if terrified that the readers would miss a single detail or nuance of the intricate concept, the author saturated her book with them, even when I felt that I really had a handle on what was going on. Fairly obvious conclusions that could have been drawn by the reader were explained so thoroughly, I felt a bit condescended to. That was pretty much the only thing I didn't like about this book and it knocked a star off. Otherwise, it was pretty darn cool. The concept, over-explaining aside, was super awesome. It was exciting and it hooked me from chapter one. I liked the supporting characters almost more than the main character, but Miki herself was still a pretty flawed-yet-kick-butt character. It read a lot like the first book in the series - a lot of explaining and not the most well-rounded plot arc I've ever read - but it was fast-paced and had a great cast of characters, so I'm excited to see where the series goes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Was not expecting that!!! I read this book in two days; I could not put it down. I loved it so much. So many emotions, and feelings that book gave me. I have fright, excitement, sadness, frustration, love and confusing all at once. Having romance and aliens in a teen book... it was written very well. I bought the second book right away after finishing it. I cant wait to read what happens next. If you want to be scared and excited at the same time then love and warmth the next, read this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this book I received this book and I just couldn't wait to read it. I do have a lot to do this month and a lot of review and was planning on reading it in November but I just couldn't wait anymore so I decided to read it this past weekend. WOW!! I am so glad I read it because I just absolutely loved it . It didn't take me long to read it because I was hooked from beginning. I found the book very well written and I love the characters. I love that Miki is a strong female character and I do like Jackson even though at some points in the book you just want to hit him. I loved every minutes of this book but HOLY CLIFFHANGER!!! Now I just MUST get my hands on the next book. I give this 5 out of 5 stars.
