This masterful selection celebrates the brand’s authority, heritage, and depth of worldwide culinary knowledge in what will become an indispensable and treasured guide for everyone who relishes authentic cooking and SAVEUR’s standard of excellence.

Also includes suggested menus for holidays and occasions; illustrative sidebars that showcase groups of ingredients (such as the Mexican pantry, different varieties of tomatoes, what makes a good tagine) or provide easy-to-follow instructions for techniques (like how to crimp a dumpling or fold an empanada); and two sections of gorgeous full-color photographs that bring the cuisine to life.

The 16 chapters are organized by course and food type. A robust selection of pantry basics (DIY condiments, stocks and sauces, spice blends and rubs, and more) is also included. Each recipe includes a headnote (explaining the origin of the dish, offering suggestions for perfecting the method, or a serving suggestion) and there are illustrations and cook’s notes, imparting helpful tips (wear gloves when working with hot chiles, use young ginger for the best flavor) scattered throughout the book. Icons call out vegetarian dishes and other helpful information at a glance. Multiple indexes make it easy to find recipes for any occasion.
Since its founding in 1994, SAVEUR magazine has provided vivid and unprecedented access to the world's cuisines, telling the stories of authentic meals and the cooks behind them through impeccable photography, faithfully reproduced recipes, and expertly crafted articles from the world's most celebrated food writers. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent. I have the Joy of Cooking compendium and originally purchased this book for a friend. Once I had a better look at it, I needed to get one for myself too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic, comprehensive cookbook This book reminds me of those super-useful older cookbooks such as The Joy of Cooking, or the Good Housekeeping Complete books. There are retro style appetizers such as "Ella Fitzgerald's Favorite Cheddar Cheese Log" and lots of easy to master international recipes like Chawanmushi (Japanese egg custard). It has hundreds of recipes, and is a worthwhile for purchase for "regular" eaters as well as vegetarians, keto/low carb eaters or locavores. Among the chapters are starter salads, game, whole fish, filleted fish, rice & grains, breakfast breads, pickles & preserves and several sections of desserts. Interspersed with pages of tips for incorporating different flavors like uses for bacon (wrapped around a sardine, or a date!) as well as quotes from various chefs and authors. If you can only buy one book, I would highly suggest this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok recipes, lacks pictures Pro: lots of recipes from apps to dessert. Cons: no pictures - I don't know about you but I like my cookbooks to have pictures on them. Also, the recipes we tried so far needed tweaking. Nothing was just right. And the instructions are not all that detailed. All in all though this is an OK reference. We got this on sale, don't pay full price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value This is a good reference and use it everyday kind of cookbook. A big volume packed full of recipes from professional chefs all over the world, it's world cuisine at your fingertips. Unlike some cookbooks from cuisine speciality magazines, this Saveur cookbook is reassuringly down to earth with recipes and ingredient lists the everyday home cook can follow and easily incorporate into your every day or special occasion meals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A go to cookbook. A very thorough cookbook with plenty of explanations. It's like the classic Joy of Cooking but with some different recipes. Real classic recipes and well laid out. I have purchased a lot of cookbooks over the years and would rate this one exceptional. It's one for the kitchen and not the coffee table.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will last forever on our shelf! This is one of the best cook books out there! There is such a diversity of recipes and my partner couldn't stop reading it when I gave it to him :) It is jam packed full of interesting food and explains lots of the basics especially when we aren't familiar with other countries regular food. Haven't had a bad meal yet and love all the new spices.
