Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Relaxer Bought this for myself as a way to unwind after a busy day. I love it! I The illustrations are beautiful and there are tons of them so you won't get through it fast. I do it while watching the news and it's so relaxing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Book! We have purchased quite a few of these adult style colouring books over the years..and this one is a favourite that we have also gifted multiple times. Lovely images and quality paper!
Date published: 2018-04-29
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the Designs As other reviewers have mentioned, the paper could be a little thicker to prevent bleeding through if you're using felt tip pens or markers. This is the first of a few colouring books that I have purchased, it sounds cheesy, but it really is fun for the whole family.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Intricate and lovely designs that are so pretty I'm kind of afraid to colour it in, haha.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still love this book This was the first colouring book I got and still love it. Glad to see it now has sturdier pages, but I have alot of others books too now (have stocked up for when the craze fades!) so probably won't repurchase

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty I really like the designs but they're a little too intricate for me. I feel like I'll be colouring the same picture forever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome book My boyfriend bought this for me for Christmas and it was one of my favourite gifts. I would say the only criticism is that some markers bleed through a bit more than preferred. I tend to use pencil crayons as they don't bleed or affect the paper quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like it I like this book but I can't use markers on it as they bleed through to the other side. If you enjoy just using pencils you will probably love this...very detailed

Date published: 2017-05-23
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish I used it more. Of all the colouring books I've seen this is probably one of the best. I got another one after the fact and it's okay, but it's nothing like this one. Wish I had more time to colour in it!
Date published: 2017-05-20
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these books! I remember I used to think these were stupid when they first became popular...then I realized how dumb I was. These are the best and so much fun with a glass of wine or when you want to relax after a long day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful This was actually the first adult colouring book I received (for Christmas) and two years later, it is still providing me with so much entertainment! The paper quality allows me to switch between markers and crayons, depending on my mood.
Date published: 2017-04-28
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good Lots of great, detailed pictures, but colors can bleed through pretty badly.
Date published: 2017-04-26
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost better than the original Are you one of those readers who visualizes while they read? A colouring book such as this allows you to expresyour personal interpretation of the book. High on my list of colouring books.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful book! The illustrations are really pretty and detailed - you can spend hours coloring one page. Very therapeautic...great to do before bed.
Date published: 2017-04-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you love flowers this is the colouring book for you. I also have the Enchanted Forest and enjoy them both. This book has many lovely flower images and gardens, and pages with blank areas to add your own touch to the drawing if you feel like it.
Date published: 2017-04-19
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a smaller sized book so great for travel. Fantastic selection of images to color from simple to harder. All garden scenes. great quality paper so can be framed later.
Date published: 2017-04-18
Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK I'm a big Johanna's fun but I don't like this book. Paper quality not the greatest, I don't like all this advices like "draw something, etc". Because even if I draw something the letters are still there.
Date published: 2017-04-11
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning Book! I was scared the details would be too fine, but my pencil crayons were able to handle them which was great! I would agree with some of the other reviews that it does become tedious though.
Date published: 2017-04-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice This is a nice colouring book and it is enjoyable but I found that the type of paper used didn't allow me to use my pens in it, even though they work in all her other books. So its great if you plan to use pencil crayons.
Date published: 2017-03-31
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful The illustrations are beautiful and it will take you a long time to complete colouring all the pages. I do find some of the illustrations really repetitive though. It gets boring after because you're always colouring leaves or flowers.
Date published: 2017-03-25
Rated 4 out of 5 by from fun I found this coloring book has lots of intricate detailed pages so they take more time and concentration to color the picture. Lots of nice pictures to choose from. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you are looking for a stress reliever, check out this colouring book. Are any of you old enough to remember DoodleArt? These were posters that you colored in with markers and if you were lucky, those markers lasted long enough to complete the entire poster. If you loved DoodleArt, then you will absolutely enjoy the Secret Garden Coloring book. I purchased the French version of the Secret Garden coloring book because my local bookstore ran out of the English version and as an added bonus, I was told that the French version also had 2 posters to color. I'm not sure if the salesclerk told me that just to get me to buy the book, but it really doesn't matter what language this book is in - it is a coloring book for adults or really artistic and patient kids. The pages are beautifully drawn and the book is a kind of treasure hunt where you look for things hidden in all of the doodles. There are even pages where you can finish the drawings yourself, so be creative. Personally, I decided to use pencil crayons over markers because I found that pencil crayons come in many different shades of green and we had tons of them left over from when the kids were in elementary school. The coloring is intricately detailed. The pages are whimsical and elicit thoughts of my own garden. Just the title page took me a little over an hour to color. It was a purely restful hour, one of those peaceful and relaxing moments that bring back memories of childhood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT love the pictures, so more technical than others, but great pass time
Date published: 2017-03-19
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I love the detail in this book because it helps you to concentrate more on the moment. Also, you do not have to colour a page in one sitting, you can keep going back to it. When the pages are finished being coloured they are so beautiful! The paper quality is good too.
Date published: 2017-03-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing!! this book is beautiful. Lots of coloring to do as well as other activities. Great book.

Date published: 2017-03-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Secret Garden let's your imagination run wild Secret Garden is a wonderful colouring book filled with beautifully illustrated designs where you can let your imagination go to create some stunning coloured pictures. The designs are double sided, printed on off white quality paper (newer editions) that are wonderful to colour. Pencil crayons work very well. Markers I would definately test them out somewhere it won't be seen (back pages) to see if your's bleed through. Some do some don't, it also depends on how you use them and if you're heavy handed when colouring. Gel pens don't tend to bleed but I would still recommend doing a test as it could depend on the brand you use. There are a lot of leaves in the book which tends to be a complaint of having to use all greens, but let your imagination fly leaves don't have to be green! The fun part of colouring is you can colour any way you like. Pink trees with purple leaves, why not! The designs can be quite intricate with small details. It takes time and patience but if you don't mind the detail it's well worth the finished product in the end. Truly a wonderful book

Date published: 2017-02-10
Rated 3 out of 5 by from results the results are stunning even if i'm really impatient to get one page done. i do find like others though that the pages fall right out of the book. the binding isn't great so the book now is quite messy.

Date published: 2017-01-23
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complicated This is too complicated - it adds more stress than removing it for people who need bigger spots. The lines are too small

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The original adult colouring book Intricate drawings, and still works well for the beginner. Very thick paper quality. This is the book that started the very popular trend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First colouring book The very first colouring book that got me into the world of colouring for relaxation. Beautifully drawn and a great way to just unwind. #plumreview
Date published: 2017-01-04
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the drawings, hate the paper This book has such quality drawings. I love the variety. The paper bleeds through, though. I prefer to use markers and pens. One solution would be one sided pictures, or thicker paper. Other than that it's a beautiful book.
Date published: 2017-01-04
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful drawings, poor quality paper Bought this as a Christmas present for a friend; the drawings inside are intricate and beautiful which will no doubt take a long time to finish colouring. The paper quality is poor and thin which is unfortunate because you are limited to the materials you can use on it. #plumreview
Date published: 2017-01-02
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Detailed designs though needs thicker paper The intricacy of the designs is truly beautiful, and just looking through the book without colouring is a pleasure. However I wish the paper was thicker so that you could use more than pencil crayons in the book, as I have found pens and markers to bleed through.
Date published: 2016-12-27
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Book This book has beautiful and detailed pictures with intricate patterns. There are a lot of pictures and there is a good variety of scenes to colour. One con (or pro for artists) is that there are several pictures with lots of white space to allow a person to draw their own pictures or continue adding to the picture. Another thing to watch out for is that the paper is not very thick (or sturdy) so if you are using markers or paint you may want to test it on the back pages to make sure there is no bleed through since their are pictures printed on both sides of the paper.
Date published: 2016-12-26

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love her work Love all of Johanna Basford's books. Didn't particularly care about the "continue the pattern" or "add your design" part of this book, but the illustrations are a marvel to colour in!

Date published: 2016-12-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice I enjoy colouring the illustrations, they're well done. The only thing that could be improved is the paper quality. It is great for pencil crayons or felts but does not work well with finer pens which is my preferred way to colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Colouring Book I love this colouring book. The fine lines are challenging sometimes to stay inside of, but I love it. I also like how there fold out pictures to colour.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from at first it was interesting, but it just got a little bit plain as it goes It was very entertaining at first, but then the same patterns show up over and over again, it was kind of boring of that. But still, it is a good way to kill some time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS COLOURING BOOK I absolutely love this colouring book. Some details are really fine and hard to colour in the lines but that really doesn't matter it not going in a museum or anything.

Date published: 2015-12-29
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving this book! I bought this after all the hype I was hearing about them. The intricate pictures really allow a calming time of personal expression. I slowly work at it in the hopes one day, when each picture is finished, I will turn it into art and hang it throughout my home.
Date published: 2015-11-13
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice book This item has finally arrived. What a beautiful book. Can't wait to color. The pages seem to be of a good thickness. I am guessing at around 28 lb bond paper (I just recently purchased 24 lb bond from Staples to print off coloring pages from the internet and the pages in this book seem a bit heavier) I will stick with colored pencils and gel pens for now.
Date published: 2015-10-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes You Away Love her work. A friend showed me this wonderful book and I fell in love with it, so much it took me awhile to start colouring in it. I love drawing and this gives me a break to be with myself in a calming place. I use Staedtler Fine Line Colouring pens and as long as you don't over colour the area, let it dry then go back over it again and it woudn't show through. I've only had this happen once and thats the reason. I can blend the inks together and the page comes to life. Also using KOI Woodless colouring pencils and because they are soft quality they are wonder for blending from one colour into another. looking forward to her next book...Another great book is Secret Garden & Tropical forest by another wonder artist.....
Date published: 2015-09-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book is amazing. I got this as a gift from my parents since I have social anxiety and really bad depression. It's always nice to just sit down for an hour or so and colour in this book. The pages are nice and thick, and the designs are gorgeous and very intricate.. I use Scholar Prismacolor Pencil crayons which work very well in it, as well as Triplus Fine liner pens which as long as you don't press to hard, doesn't bleed through the paper and is always nice for the smaller spaces. All in all, this book is amazing and I totally recommend it if you want to just sit down and not think while you colour.
Date published: 2015-09-01
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gift Idea I was given "Secret Garden" for my birthday, and I absolutely love the whole idea of a colouring book for adults! It's a great way to relax and unwind, especially in a world where we're so consumed by technology.
Date published: 2015-08-19
Rated 2 out of 5 by from hard to find tools to colour with I purchased this after reading and hearing all the great reviews. Although beautiful, I have yet to enjoy the "therapeutic" colouring bc of the pencil crayons I am using. The designs are so intricate that I can't get a good page, and markers bleed through, which is disappointing considering the beauty of the book and the cost. Unless anyone can recommend great colouring pencils I'd have to say I am disappointed :(
Date published: 2015-08-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inspirational love the illustrations, provides me with ideas especially when in a artist slump. Wonderful gift even for a artist in the making a student who enjoys a challenge. As to not destroy the book I scan the pages onto cardstock or water colour hot press paper and her I can make changes or leave the picture as is and colour it in any medium. Very relaxing and I have both of her books and looking fwd to the next. I also collected other adult colouring boooks which to are a treat to flip through the pages. a must for anyone who can or can't draw to use for a relaxing time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obsessed Jumped on the bandwagon and bought myself this book as a mindless way to wind down in the evening and it exceeded my expectations! The illustrations are gorgeous and, despite the complaints about 'poor paper quality', I think it's perfect! I use colored pencils to color in mine and they work wonderfully. Would definitely recommend to others!
Date published: 2015-06-16
Rated 4 out of 5 by from So addictive! Love the book! Love the images! Couldn't stop until I was done the page, but at the same time very relaxing. But I do wish the pages were removable or that the color doesn't show through on the other side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enchanted Forest and Secret Garden Colouring Books I purchased these for my teenage granddaughters who just love them. I liked them so well I purchased one for myself. Great unwinding tool for the end of the day.
Date published: 2015-05-18
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gift for Mum! I bought this book for my mother for Mother's Day. So far she loves it. A nice change to crosswords and reading.
Date published: 2015-05-11
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use Coloured Pencils, not markers! I use coloured pencils --- I like to blend different colours. Wish the binding was a bit looser, or that the images did not go right into the binding area.
Date published: 2015-05-11
Rated 5 out of 5 by from That Something Special I have purchased both The Secret Garden and The Enchanted Forest. There are hours of enjoyment to be had in these books. Put some favorite music on, pour a glass of wine, and lose yourself in the sheer joy of the illustrations and the choice of which color to choose next. Better yet, get your friends together and host a coloring club!! Can't wait to see this artist's next creation! Have given several of these as gifts, and they were well received.
Date published: 2015-04-30
Rated 2 out of 5 by from poor paper quality Great designs. The paper quality is poor though. The pens (Staedtler Fine liner) she recommended to use bleeds right through so you can only colour on one side or use colour pencils. My wish list for next edition would be to print on one sided with thicker paper and with a spiral binding!
Date published: 2015-04-03
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful illustrations, but I expected more... I'm a little confused by a previous comment of "A good book to read". There's nothing to read... it's all about the beautiful illustrations! There are phrases here and there to encourage doodling (which I don't do, therefore I find it a waste of a colouring page), but I wouldn't call that something to "read". 2 things would make it a 4 or 5 star: perforated pages and 1-sided printing! If you plan on colouring and framing any of the illustrations, you will have to choose one side or the other... Although it is good quality, thicker paper, I don't believe it would stand up to marker use for bleeding (I prefer pencil crayons). I find when you first look through the book there is a lot of repetition within the patterns of the illustrations. As you colour it, you're so focused on the page at hand, you forget what the others look like, so it's not a huge deal. The finished products create a complementary theme throughout. I guess along with the perforated pages, a margin depth would be great, too, so that you can get right into the crease and match the pages up for full effect when framing. But this is me being VERY particular. It appears to have a coptic binding, so if one REALLY wanted to, you could probably pry the binding apart and remove the stitching to achieve "full" illustrations on the centre pages. I feel for the $20 price tag, there should be MORE. I have other colouring books that are half the price and have over 100 pages to colour. Still, it would make a beautiful gift for your artistic loved ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing colouring book for Adults! Will last years! I bought this as a birthday gift for myself. I'm an artsy person, who loves to colour! I read many reviews of this before purchasing as I wanted something that would be fun,yet different. This book is all that and more. There are pages where you can finish the drawing by doodling yourself! There is only one underwater themed garden, wish there had been a couple more. To actually finish this colouring this whole book would take a really long time, I'm thinking a year depending how often you colour! I'm so excited for her next book coming in March; "Enchanted Forest: An Inky Quest and Colouring Book"! I'll be scooping it up right away! So if you can't decided on a colouring book, then just buy this one, it's a great investment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice design purchased for my adult daughter, loves colouring but everything is so childish, not this, very detailed, and keeps her off social media and using her skills on on something useful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great stress reliever! I bought this for myself. I am an artist but I love to doodle and this is great for anyone that is a doodler or just loves to go back to their childhood and colour. It's great for older children or teenagers who are adept at colouring. It's not a young child's colouring book. I love it! It's a great stress reliever. I love to sit and colour or doodle. I even bought one for my daughter and daughter-in-law for Christmas.
