Don't Freeze Up at Meal Time -- Reach Into the Freezer Instead

Let's admit it: we all want to save time and money while still putting healthy and tasty homemade food on the table. But how? Karrie Truman, creator of the much-beloved blog Happy Money Saver, is going to let you in on a secret: the answer is freezer meals.

When she was an exhausted young mom, Karrie found herself serving processed or fast food at the end of a busy day even though she knew it wasn't what she wanted her family to be eating. Then she discovered freezer meals. Immediately, she had home-cooked, easy and delicious food at her fingertips and more time to spend with loved ones.

In Seriously Good Freezer Meals, Karrie shares 150 recipes photos that will change the way you think about freezer cooking. You won't find your mother or grandmother's freezer meals here (except lasagna, of course). Her recipes include Morning Energy Bars, Empanada Hand Pies, Coconut Cashew Basil Curry Soup, Smoky Grilled Louisiana Turkey Legs, and Layered Chocolate Mousse Cake with tons of vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options, too. Plus, she adds a bulk-batch chart for ease in making large quantities of each freezer-meal recipe.

Karrie gives you all the tools you need to become a freezer-meal genius: information on shopping, cooking, freezing, thawing and everything in between. The book includes beginner, intermediate and advanced meal plan programs to guide you in cooking 7 to 50 meals in a day. You read that right: 50 meals in a day. No more excuses: it's time to start cooking delicious meals that will have you feeling anything but left out in the cold!

Karrie Truman is the creator of Happy Money Saver (www.happymoneysaver.com), a blog devoted to making delicious freezer meals and helping people learn ways to live life to the fullest while on a budget, which garners about 800,000 visitors per month. She has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, and Seattle Magaz...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great ideas! I've always been looking for some recipes that can cook some food for once and store in the refrigerator for a while for later use, this book comes right one time and saves tons of time!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks great, taste disappoints This is a beautiful book... gorgeous photography, very smart organization of recipes, and the writing makes me want to make every recipe in the book. The only problem is that every recipe I've tried so far, I haven't liked at all. Not at all. The "Thai Beef Stir-Fry" has a tantalizing photo of beautifully browned beef strips with veggies over rice, but the recipe calls for you to dump the beef strips into the pan along with all of your marinade. What ends up happening is that you basically boil your beef. No beautiful browning at all, and the result is boiled, tasteless meat. Blech. I also tried the "Maple Dijon Chicken", which was another puddle-filled, tasteless, slow-cooked mess. "Amazing Macaroni & Cheese" was another disappointment, though not as bad as the others. What I don't get is that the white sauce used for this recipe uses chicken stock over dairy, and only a little milk in the actual recipe. Then, to make up for that, there is a ton of cheese. Lastly, the "Old-Fashioned Chicken Pot Pie" was so full of hash browns, that it was overwhelming. The taste was also barely there. Hate to give such a scathing review, but I was so excited by this cookbook and it was so disappointing! I will be giving my copy away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best freezer cookbook EVER !!! I pre-ordered this cookbook and it was SO worth the wait ! The recipes are awesome, with pictures to go with most. The ingredients for most recipes are things we all have in our pantry. I love that the author has given so many good tips and has even done the math so we can make large quantity freezer meals. I will certainly be buying more of these books to give out as gifts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great This one has some really tasty recipes that aren't too difficult to make. As well, I'm new to freezing prepared meals and making everything ahead of time, and found the instructions very clear and the tips very helpful.
