Service: A Navy Seal At War is rated 5 out of 5 by 5.
From the mountains of Afghanistan to urban sniper hides in Iraq, Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell has seen the worst of war at the sharp end of battle. In 2006, the "lone survivor" of Operation Redwing returned to combat as a member of SEAL Team 5 to help take on the most dangerous city in the world: Ramadi, the capital of war-torn Anbar Province. It was there that he took part in what has been called the greatest victory in the history of the U.S. Special Operations forces.

Luttrell's eye-opening narrative also offers powerful new details about his time in Afghanistan and his miraculous rescue. After returning from that star-crossed mission with shattered bones and a broken heart, he thought of the men who had given their lives to save him-and how he would have readily done the same for them. He wondered why he and others, from America's founding to today, had been willing to sacrifice everything-including themselves-for the sake of family, nation, and freedom.

A thrilling war story,Serviceis also a profoundly moving tribute to the warrior brotherhood and to the belief that nobody goes it alone.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Riveting I had read Lone Survivor and now Service by Marcus Luttrell. Very good book, both, detailing and recalling his training, life as a SEAL's. He is a man of faith, great love for his brothers at arms, his twin brother, his family and his country. He has suffered much ,physically as well as emotionally, losing close friends, comrades at arms. A well written book. I enjoyed it tremendously. Thank you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can i give 5+ stars? I've read a lot of SEAL bios but this was incredible. Hearing sine things straight from Marcus about what really happened was interesting and reassuring, also a reminder that media doesn't necessarily have the up to date interpretations! i enjoyed the wiring style and the intense look beyond the scenes.

As someone who has never served, who can't imagine what these men (and women) have gone thru and seen, I can start to see it and understand it now. Thank you to all who have served, and to those who were lost, I may sleep in peace each and every nigh because of what you have done
