Grandpa gently picked up one of his dad's Colts and held it in his hand as though he was his father and his father was alive in him. In his eyes was a great look of respect and admiration for his father. Tears leaked from his now tightly-closed eyes and he whispered, "I miss you, Dad." He slowly opened his eyes and raised them to mine. "Joshua, the Devil started a battle with your great-grandpa by luring him into a guilt that removed quiet peace from his life. As a result of this unbridled guilt however, your great-grandpa was led toward heaven and not hell. Grandpa Joshua is responsible for building a family that has continued to do battle against the Evil One for all these years, and that responsibility is now yours."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful! There is a story within this story, it is not a typical, 'good vs. evil'. It has a good pace to it. It doesn't drag on with flowery description but you don't miss anything either. The characters are strong & realistic, carrying on the family beliefs & traits, one of which is a sense of humor, while staying true to the era. You grow with the story. Often, the things we fear the most are the things we cannot see. The Evil spoken of in this story is illusive at times, but does appear. It's then you will see that he isn't a fantasy figure that your subconscious can just brush off, but a very real character that comes from an infinitely dark place. Like being at the front of the roller coaster, you will meet him 'in the first person'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely great read What a great read. I love the characters, they seem so real as does their journey with all of it's twists and turns. I laughed, cried, was angered and was glad. It's a ride not a read!
