about

endgame ? ?the final stages of a chess game after most of the pieces have been removed from the board? ? thefreedictionary.com For over one hundred years, the world's best chess players and teachers have told students to study the endgame. Why? Consider this common scenario: you do well in the opening, you turn this into a clear middlegame advantage, then your lack of endgame skill prevents you from winning the game. Complete game considerations and planning (key factors in correct opening and middlegame strategy) are only possible if you possess a firm grasp of basic endgame principles and key endgame positions.Improving your play in the final phase of the game will make both your opening and middlegame stronger. In Silman's Complete Endgame Course, famed writer, speaker, player and International Master Jeremy Silman has created the one and only endgame book you?ll need as you move up the ladder from beginner to tournament player to possession of the coveted Master title.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for any chess player This is by far the best endgame book on the market today. Jeremy Silman writing style is very easy to read and understand. If you only buy one endgame book, buy this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Must Read This should be the first endgame book any chess player should read. Key concepts are explained in a very simple and effective way. The idea to divide the endgame by player's strength is innovative and I think it's the best way to teach the subject, why nobody thought that before? The only drawback on this book is not having used the figurine algebraic notation, but overall this is a must-have book for the serious player, specially if you're just a beginner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE only endgame book needed ! It's the book i was looking for since i know a little bit more about chess... Mr. Silman gives crystal clear explanations of endgame theory by player's rating ! So you won't get confused with theory you're not ready to have. And i must repeat that this theory is more than well explained, really clear, very understandable... Even for a french speaking guy like me ! Excellent book, very well made like everything Mr. Silman produce.
