Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Exactly what you expect from Krentz This installment of Jayne Ann Krentz's (writing as Jayne Castle) series about Harmony, the planet where a generation ago, humans from earth colonizing another planet get stuck there when the curtain that opened to allow them to get there in the first place just closes one day without warning. Those left behind adapt, part of which involves the development of various psychic talents in the populace. The story involves Celinda, a disgraced matchmaker trying to start over in a new city, and Davis, a guild PI who's looking for a valuable relic for the head of the guild. As always, both main characters have secrets and pasts that mean they don't want a relationship and can't trust anyone (at the beginning of the story anyhow). Davis discovers Celinda was the last one who had the relic, but Celinda's dust bunny (one of my favourite aspects of this particular series BTW) Araminta does NOT want Davis to have it and runs off and hides it. So Davis and Celinda are thrown together and have to stick together to find the relic. What follows is a hunt for both the relic and the several bad guys who are also after it and willing to kill to get it. Naturally, Davis and Celinda are immediately attracted to one another the very first time they meet (how come this only happens in books?) and their attraction turns into more by the end of the book. There aren't any big surprises here, but if you like paranormal romances, then you should enjoy this. There is excitement, chase scenes, love scenes, and "will they / won't they" solve the mystery and get the bad guys?? The main characters are likable, slightly conflicted and very determined to do what they need to do. All in all, a solid entry in Kretz's Harmony series.
