Customer Reviews of Silverwing

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly enjoyable book! I had to read this novel for my children's literature class and it was actually better than I thought it would be. It was the only book from the course that I could not put down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Beginning to the Series This is a great introduction to the series. The story isn't necessarily new or deeply original, but Oppel writes a nice story with likeable characters that readers will enjoy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was okay I really loved the Warrior series and I thought I'd give this one a go. The book itself is well written and has many positive messages. I found myself liking Shade and cheering on the little bat, maybe because he's a runt and is courageous despite the odds. I really liked how Oppel described the environment through the perspective of bats, specifically echolocation. A really cool way of approaching a story. That said the story started off pretty slow and was hard to get into. I almost put it down, but I'm glad I didn't because it does pick up the pace later on. Also I don't think the secondary characters are as well developed as the ones in his Airborne series. It's still a good read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great Favorite! Another one of my favorite series, I watched the show as a kid and when I got older I found sunwing and firewing, so I went out and bought the first of the series and found the book was even better than I hoped.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from favourite all time book and TVseries This book goes back to when I was in school. I first learned about it when I saw the television series, based off these books. I do like the book better, but hey, doesn't everyone? It's good for all ages (8+) and although it's not a phenomenal book, it's still a classic in my opinion, spawning a television series, two sequels and a prequel. Hey, if it can have its own television series, I'd say it's worth checking out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great story Can't believe this has been out for so long and I never knew about it. I read it because my daughter was reading it in school, but I finished it because I loved the story and the characters!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One of the worst books I ever read! We read this book in school as a novel study, and I'll admit, at first it seemed like a good book. But after the first few chapters I was ready to rip my hair out. It was dragged out more than any book should be and some events happened that were almost identical. I should have known any book with talking animals should be bad. Unless you have a twisted taste in books, I would not recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filled with night and day Silver wing is amazing you can get a fell for the book and really know what is happening it has parts when shade is mad and times when shade is not doin anything. If you the warriors series you will like the silverwing series. (Make sure you read the series in order.)
