Maddie Moore's whole life needs a makeover.

In one fell swoop, Maddie loses her boyfriend (her decision) and her job (sonother decision). But rather than drowning her sorrows in bags of potato chips, Maddie leaves L.A. to claim the inheritance left by her free-spirited mother-a ramshackle inn nestled in the little coastal town of Lucky Harbor, Washington.

Starting over won't be easy. Yet Maddie sees the potential for a new home and a new career-if only she can convince her two half-sisters to join her in the adventure. But convincing Tara and Chloe will be difficult because the inn needs a big makeover too.

The contractor Maddie hires is a tall, dark-haired hottie whose eyes-and mouth-are making it hard for her to remember that she's sworn off men. Even harder will be Maddie's struggles to overcome the past, though she's about to discover that there's no better place to call home than Lucky Harbor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute Holiday Romance This was a fun, cute, holiday contemporary romance. It wasn’t overly filled with the holidays or Christmas but had elements of it sprinkled within. This allows it to be a good read for any time of the year but also started to give me my fill of what I’m looking for as it nears the holidays. This was the typical contemporary romance but with that said, it was still enjoyable. It gave me all the feels. It had the friendship/sisterhood/family component, the romance and development component, was hot. What can I say? I do like my steamy romances and the chemistry between Maddie and Jax was great. I need a Jax sent my way for Christmas, okay? Great! A quick read that was entertaining and enjoyable. I don’t necessarily think the story will stick with me as it fits with most generic contemporary romances but I will be looking for more of the novels within this series as it was an enjoyable read. ***Thank you to Goodreads as well as the author and publisher for supplying me with this novel via a giveaway***

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun Read Fun read, yes a predictable ending but when reading these kinds of books, it is less about the ending than the journey to get there. I enjoyed the interactions between the sisters. This book reminded me a little of "Beach Town" by another author.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Already Love This Series! Those of you who follow my blog may have noticed that I read mostly Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance titles. I love love love them but after reading quite a few in a row, I sometimes start to feel a little ‘heavy’ because let’s face it, titles in these genres tend to be intense in their stories, involved in their characters and dark in their themes. That is why I sometimes look for a contemporary romance book to read. Contemporary romances tend to snap me right out of my UF/PNR gloom – as long as they have all the elements I adore in a modern romance story. For a contemporary romance to really work for me it must be fun, funny, sweet, sexy and cute. Simply Irresistible is the first book in Jill Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor series and it is just darling and fits each one of my criteria. I won’t bother going into what the book is about since the Goodreads summary pretty much says it all so let’s just get right into the characters. Maddie I loved. Quirky, smart, funny… there were times I saw me in her. And not in her most flattering moments. *g* I could go on and on about everything I liked about her but I think it would take up the entire review. How she meets Jax was so funny and suited her perfectly. That right there was the hint of things to come from her and from this story. Really great. Jax I loved. (Do you see a theme building here?) Used to be a lawyer and now is the handy-man/town hunk/overall great guy. To me he was the perfect contemporary romance hero. He was sweet and smart and funny and… Apparently this is another character I could just go on and on about, so I’ll stop here. Jax and Maddie make an amazing couple though. They are both warm and giving and loving people and they really deserve each other. Maddie’s sisters, Tara and Chloe, were in this book just enough to make me want to know more about them. I didn’t love reading their disagreements but they were all part of their characters and it made them all coming together to reach their common goal all the more sweet. Actually, thinking back, I really want to know more about them. There is one thing in particular about Tara and this guy in town and all this animosity between them and… I am pretty sure I have that all figured out but I am going to have to wait until the next book to know for sure because The Sweetest Thing is Tara’s book. Jax’s friends, Ford and Sawyer, were fun too. You didn’t see much of Sawyer but we did see quite a bit of Ford and he was a hoot! I loved this book. Everything about it was just charming and lovely and sweet and sexy…and yeah. It was a wonderful contemporary romance read and it absolutely helped clear my head and my heart from the guns and paranormal creatures and world-changing situations that fuddle my head sometimes and replaced it with sunshine and rainbows. The story was good and the pacing was good too. Honestly, I can’t think of anything truly horrible about this book. It made me want to keep reading, it made me smile, it made me giggle and it made me swoon. The setting was great, the story was great, Maddie was great, Jax was great, the supporting characters were great…just great great great. I will definitely be recommending this one to others with gusto and will be devouring the other books in the series as soon as I have the chance. 5 stars

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A cute new series Shalvis has managed to start another wonderful series. This time about three dysfunctional sisters who inherit their deceased mother's resort. Maddie's return to Lucky Harbor is not only to sort out their mother's estate but also to escape the loss of her job and her jerk of an ex. The meet cute between Maddie and Hot Biker Guy, Jax, had me laughing out loud. There is, as usual, a cast of quirky characters that keep the story light and fun. The sexual tension between Maddie and Jax was nicely done. The dynamic between the sisters was great, and I can't wait for the next story in the series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simply too Irresistible to Put Down Jill Shalvis 1st book in her Lucky Harbor series Simply Irresistible was truly irresistible. There’s lots to love about Simply Irresistible and Jill Shalvis knows how to deliver a witty, cast of loveable characters in her newest novel about the folks of Lucky Harbor -population 2,100 lucky people and 10,100 shellfish. First of all how can you not love Maddie Moore a girl after my own heart with her love of potato chips whether she‘s eating them or wearing the tell-tail crumbs on her shirt. The poor girl is at a crossroads in her life, recently finding herself jobless, she takes to the highway and heads to Lucky Harbor where she hopes to convince her two half-sisters, Tara and Chloe into renovating and running the ramshackle Inn left to them by their slightly eccentric mother Phoebe Traeger. Maddie’s barely within the city limits when she almost wipes Jax Cullen aka Hot Biker Guy and his motorcycle off the face of the earth. The smiles and giggles started early - it only took until page 6 when I had my first LOL moment. And there were many more to come. A really cute idea was how Ms. Shalvis started every chapter with some words of wisdom from Mamma Phoebe Traeger. These little quips set the tone for what’s to come in each chapter. Here are just a few note-worthy gems outta the mouth of mom: “Don’t take life too seriously. After all, none of us are getting out alive anyway.” “Just when you thing you’ve hit rock bottom, someone will hand you a shovel.” “Experience is something you get…after you need it.” Lucky Harbor is your typical small town cliché…where everybody knows your name and is all up in your biz-nass. What's not so small town are the quaint names of several establishments including the Eat Me Café and the Love Shack Bar. Loves it! Finally how can you not smile at the love story between Maddie and Jax. There’s lots of trademark witty, sexually-laced Shalvis repartee between this duo. Here’s just a tease for you. Jax notices Maddie’s preoccupation with being eaten…by the big bad wolf…or whoever…and calls her on it. He sent her a mischievous glance. “What is it with you and things eating you?” A nervous laugh burst from her, and he let loose with a smile that was just wicked enough to boost her pulse and scare her at the same time. “Tell you what,” he said silkily. “If I ever get the chance to eat you, I promise you’ll like it.” Whoa! Promises, promises….*fans self* Simply Irresistible is a fun, fast-paced read and since this is the first book in the series, we can expect more hi-jinx from Maddie “The Mouse”, Tara “The Steel Magnolia Southern Bell” and Chloe “The Wild Child”. In the market for a few laughs? Then Simply Irresistible is the one you’ve been waiting for…so don’t wait! Go! Read it! Now!
