Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Just for Students I read this book shortly after moving away from home. Even though I was done my degree, the book still had plenty of advice that I benefited from. Granted, some parts of the book were just for students, but that's to be expected. The only other thing I needed when I moved out was a book on cooking and planning meals. Hope Deveau writes one of those next! Her funny, tell-it-like-it-is writing style makes her great advice that much better because it really sinks in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great book for students I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend, and thought it was great. It's well organized, so readers can read it cover to cover, or just skim through for relevant sections. It's a must have for students in any type of program.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Entertainingly Educational I hate learning while I read. Moreover, I hate learning about finances in any situation. I loved this book though. Ms. Deveau had an amazing way of teaching me money-saving techniques while keeping me entertained with her witty technique and clever bantering style. This book is a must own for anyone who needs to learn how to save money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book floats great ideas Two days after reading Sara Deveau's Sink or Swim, I overheard a local college student laughingly tell a friend how bad her credit was. I felt like giving her my copy of Sink or Swim so she could understand the choppy financial waters she'll be wading through for years to come. As a former editor at the Calgary Herald, where Sara wrote a youth column, I was delighted to read her first book. In describing her experiences she provides practical examples of how students can save plenty of money. The example of weaning herself off a $1,080 a year addiction to Coca-Cola, is classic. It's a practical tip that people and students and the average person can apply to so many seemingly benign daily practices. Equally impressive is her journalistic skill. Sarah presents scores of well-researched facts, and then provides great books and Web sites that the reader can use as resources. Any student, or parent, would be smart to pick up a copy. Sink or Swim's a keeper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great book I was expecting a boring financial guide, but I was really impressed by how funny this book was. Deveau's sense of humour and tongue in cheek comments make it enjoyable for students and parents.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great resource for any student! I ordered this book to see if I could gain a few tips to help my husband and I through his third university degree. We're several thousand dollars in debt and looking to go further with the third degree. Not only did I learn many great tips and tricks but I learned that students are all in the same boat, regardless of their province or city. We just have to choose the right path so we come out with as little debt possible. A GREAT INVESTMENT!
