Korman and hockey - two of Canada's favourites make for one hilarious comedy series!

When school sportswriter "Chipmunk" Adelman finds out that Martians - the kids from his hometown Mars - will play on the debut team in the Waterloo Slapshot League, he knows he's got a scoop hot enough for Sports Illustrated. But the team is in for a big surprise when they realize that they stink! They've got a defenseman who only skates backward, a star player who wants to be on another team, and a coach who calls everything a "whatchamacallit." They'd better get their act together soon or they're sure to be kicked out of the league.

Gordon Korman has written more than fifty books for children and young adults, including four ALA Best Books for Young Adults: Son of the Mob, A Semester in the Life of a Garbage Bag, Son of Interflux and Losing Joe's Place. When he was 12, he wrote his first book, This Can't Be Happening!, and has written six other books about Macdon...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Fantastic!' The way Gordon Korman put this together is absolutely fantastic. Since "Chipmunk" is the team reporter and the narrator that made it possible for the reader to know how good the Stars really are at their own rink. Whenever I read "The Stars From Mars" I think, how did he make it so good? This book is great and I highly recommend it to hockey fans although you should also get if you are a fan of Kormans books too.

Editorial Reviews

"The concept is nothing new. . .taking a bunch of misfits and turning them into champions was common story fodder even before the Bad News Bears came along, and Gordon has visited this ground before with the Zucchini Warriors and the Toilet Paper Tigers. But with the Slapshots series, he's created some great new characters and put them into a game he really cares about, and it shows in the reading." - From the official Gordon Korman website
