about

A quest for the source of power threatened to doom the land of Xanth

As a ruler of a country steeped in enchantment, King Trent was naturally curious about the source of its magic. It made sense or order Bink, the only one of his subjects immune to supernatural harm, to undertake a quest to discover the wellspring of Xanth's uniqueness.

From the beginning, Bink and his companions, Chester the centaur and Crombie, the soldier transformed into a griffin, were harried by an unseen enemy determined to thwart them. Even the power of Good Magician Humfrey, together with Bink's protective talent, scarcely saved their lives.

Then when Humpfrey and Crombie turned against him, all seemed lost. But Bink's ingenuity and luck prevailed, and he reached his goal.

The King's orders had been carried out . . .

But the King had not expected Bink's next act—to destroy utterly the magic of Xanth!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another Fun Story As with all of Piers stories, this was a fun, silly read. Great book for destressing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good I read some of the books in this series a long time ago and I remember that while the first three were decent the next three were not as good. This book was not as fun as the first one, probably because we already know all of the heroes and most of the magic and it's a bit repetitive. However it was still a decent read, full of allegory and puns and fun adventure. I recently read it again and it was still good, although a bit slow and tedious at times. This one was not as humorous as the last one but still enjoyable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love Bink Bink is one of the original characters Piers Anthony created and in my opinion is still one of the best. This book was a great read and made me hooked to this series. The only thing I do not like is that the characters are so short lived, that every book moves onto someone new and we don't see much of previous characters. I wish we got more time with Bink.
