The twentieth anniversary edition of The Spiral Dance celebrates the pivotal role the book has had in bringing Goddess worship to the religious forefront. This bestselling classic is both an unparalleled reference on the practices and philosophies of Witchcraft and a guide to the life-affirming ways in which readers can turn to the Goddess to deepen their sense of personal pride, develop their inner power, and integrate mind, body, and spirit. Starhawk's brilliant, comprehensive overview of the growth, suppression, and modern-day re-emergence of Wicca as a Goddess-worshipping religion has left an indelible mark on the feminist spiritual consciousness.

In a new introduction, Starhawk reveals the ways in which Goddess religion and the practice of ritual have adapted and developed over the last twenty years, and she reflects on the ways in which these changes have influenced and enhanced her original ideas. In the face of an ever-changing world, this invaluable spiritual guidebook is more relevant than ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must read! I can't believe I have only just read this now! Fantastic book! I will be picking up more books by Starhawk asap. The stories she tells are beautiful and moving. The added notes are great, and it is interesting to see how her opinions have evolved over time. I just loved this book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the BEST BOOKS I've ever read! This book is just wonderful! Easy to read and so FULL OF INFORMATION, I've highlighted almost the entire book! Starhawk is a wonderful author for along with revealing the truth in the history of so many partriarchal religions and societies, she also helps to demystify the ancient Mother Goddess religion by explaining the reality of what Witchraft actually is. She provides so many example of rituals, incantations and meditations. And she tries to encorporate things that would be good for everyone. This is one of my favorite books. A great read for everyone along with Scott Cunninghams Wicca: A Guide For The Solitary Practitioner.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not recommended for Wicca For those of you who do wish to follow Goddess spirituality, good for you. However, this book is in direct defiance of Wicca. Wicca is a religion of duality. Goddess and God as -equals-. Starhawk isn't even Wiccan (and she does say so)! This is not a book for Wiccans, plus her history is horribly off and often blames everything on patriarchy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A MUST - HAVE!!!! This is definitely a must-have for those who are 'just curious' and those who are seriously interested in Wicca/Witchcraft. It gives a little bit of history on paganism, and gives practical excercises, and techniques which you can put to use right away. Especially a good buy if you want to show a coven that you are serious about this path. Gives you a taste of your true potential.

Like all truly significant spiritual outlooks, Wicca has changed to match the needs of our times. And that change is thanks in no small part to this revolutionary look at the Goddess-worshipping religion. The Spiral Dance, in this wonderful 20th anniversary edition, is a broadly insightful summary of the growth, suppression and contemporary re-emergence of Wicca, particularly over the last 20 years. For anyone — man or woman — wanting to adapt the power, beauty and mysticism of this ancient religion to everyday life, this book is absolutely essential.
