Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Encouraging and Empowering Another book by Ina May, her first and yet another excellent resource for learning about normal birth. This edition still includes lots of great stories about the origin of The Farm. I’m quite sure that Steven (Ina May’s husband) would consider me to be a ‘pansy ass’ — his language, not mine. The end of the book contains lots of easy to understand explanations about what your body goes through as you deliver the baby.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! As a midwifery student this book was recommended to me. I hope I am half the midwife that ina May is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The book that helped me choose a career I read this book while I was pregnant with my third child. It helped prepare me for a totally natural labour. I opted to have a midwife attended birthing center birth, and there was information in the book I found indispensable. The first half of the book is about how Ina May and the other women become midwives and mothers, the hardships they faced and their triumphs. Some of the stories made me laugh and some made me cry. The second half of the book is about the technical side of being a midwife. This half of the book is a little dry if you are not interested in knowing the names of all the muscles that are used to push out a baby, but for those people that are, the information is great! After reading this book, I have decided to become a midwife.
