Squiggly just wants to fit in, but it's hard when he looks so different from the other squirrels at school. And the class bully, Archie, doesn't make it any easier. But, with the help of his good friends and some great adults, Squiggly learns that being different doesn't have to be hard---it can be fun! Squiggly realizes just how special he is, how great making new friends can be, and that he doesn't have to look like anyone else, he just has to look like Squiggly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Imaginative and Heartwarming Story "Squiggly Gets Glasses" is an adorable, imaginative story about a young squirrel who's different from other squirrels because of longer ears and a short, skinny tail. Even though he has two close friends he's constantly taunted by Archie and laughed at in the playground. When he can't see the school board Squiggly has to visit Mr. Peeper to get glasses and what he discovers is that being different can be fun. This is an endearing story that will warm the hearts of young children and their parents. Because the text is fairly simple it's a perfect storybook for first level readers. The story's filled with wonderful themes like being self-conscious, feeling different and friendship. It even touches on bullying, but in this tale Squiggly and Archie become friends. The illustrations are vividly striking to boldly capture a child's attention. "Squiggly Gets Glasses" is a wonderfully heartwarming journey in the life of a young squirrel who wants to be liked. I am very impressed and will make sure it's read to our pre-schoolers, and by other young children at my Library.
