Before beginning performance career, Steve Carell worked as a mail carrier in Littleton, Massachusetts. He quit after a few months because his boss told him he wasn't a very good mail carrier.

His earliest acting job was with a children's performance theatre, and later he performed with Chicago troop "The Second City", along with comedian Steven Colbert. That same year, he earned his first film role in the movie "Curly Sue". He appeared in the short running "Dana Carvey Show" in 1996, and was a correspondent of "The Daily Show" from 1999 to 2005.

He won a Golden Globe award in 2006 for this role, and also received 2 Emmy nominations in 2006 and 2007. Carell is married to SNL alum Nancy Wells, and they have two children.
