Deborah Eker has had a lifelong struggle with obsessive compulsive disorder.  Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a psychiatric condition in which the person has difficulty thinking logically and is not always able to make rational decisions.  The person may engage in behaviours such as continual checking, repeating, talking, etc.  Also involved is fear, worrying, and anxiety.  In this memoir Deborah describes growing up with OCD as a child, coping with it as an adult, and how she was diagnosed, her symptoms, and her treatment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An important Story to Tell This book clearly shows what a terrible problem obsessive compulsive disorder can be. I really feel sorry for this girl for as the book shows she has been through a lot. It is to her credit that she was able to recognize that she had a problem and was able to seek mental help counselling and treatment that eventually allowed her to get better and live a fairly normal life. The book is a memoir and details her family background and her growing up from childhood to adult and how both a dysfunctional family and obsessive compulsive disorder affected her life. There is a detailed outline and discussion of the symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder and the mental help treatment process that she went through. If you have obsessive compulsive disorder.or are interested in mental health I would recommend this book.
