Her first year away is turning out to be nearly perfect, but one weekend of giving in to heated passion will change everything

Eighteen-year-old Harper has grown up under the thumb of her career marine father. Ready to live life her own way and to experience things she's only ever heard of from the jarheads in her father's unit, she's on her way to college at San Diego State University.

Thanks to her new roommate, Harper is introduced to a world of parties, gorgeous guys, family, and emotions. She finds herself being torn in two as she quickly falls in love with both her new boyfriend, Brandon, and her roommate's brother, Chase. Despite their dangerous looks and histories, both men adore Harper and would do anything for her, including taking a step back if it would mean she'd be happy.

Molly McAdams grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry four-legged daughters. Her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach . . . which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Taking Chances review I love all Molly McAdams' love triangles. They have plot twist, heartbreaking scenes, romance, it will make you laugh and it will make you cry of course. This book was as much good as Stealing Harper (the novella) and From Ashes. This book was better than my expectations.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Taking Chances I couldn't finishing reading this book. I hate Harper! I get that sometimes you can fall in love with 2 guys at the same time, but holy crap. Most people don't acted on those feeling, they just love from afar. Such a waste of money. Definitely not reading Stealing Harper. I can't believe the twist, just when I was willing to give Harper another chance, the twist comes. So sad!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'm pissed. I can't believe how much I loathe this book. I almost couldn't finish it and if yiu know me at all you'd how rare that is. I can read anything but the characters were so flat minus one exception and the plot was so eye rollingly cliche that it was really hard to enjoy. I didn't even start to like the story until I was about a quarter of the way through when our only somewhat complex character finially takes centre stage but at the half way point things took a turn to the south again. The suposed twist is so sudden, pointless, and heartbreaking that it makes the rest of novel barely readable. The choices that Harper makes after said twist are cringe worthy and extremely frusgrating. I have never hated a main character so much! She is positively wretched in that no human being alive could relate to her. Needless to say I'm actually angry for wasting my time and money on this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Taking Chances It has been almost a year since I have read this series. I have read over 300 books in the last 19 month's and this series is still in my top 10 out of all 300 plus books. Harper Brandon Chase triangle is a love story I wish I could rewrite yet it's perfect and I would never touch a thing. I think I cried more painful tears with this series then any personal life experience. I literally felt shattered for weeks after finishing the series. I still to this day can have memories from my surroundings invoke a flashback emotion to reading about Harper Brandon & Chase lives forever changing mine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a good book There were a lot of juicy parts in this book, full of drama which I love. The only thing I didn't like was the way the characters talked to each other in a cheesy way sometimes and not really funny when they were trying to be. It got a little slow near the end but there was enough to rope you back in and have to know what happened :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved * A copy was provided by publisher for review* I read Molly McAdams's other book "From Ashes" just a couple of months ago and loved it, so to say I was excited to get my hands on "Taking Chances" was an understatement, I feel like it lived up to almost all my expectations. I thought the concept for this book was perfect, you have our main character Harper who is off to college and very happy to get out from under her Dad's ( Sir's) thumb and start living her life the way she wants. The only problem is she was not expecting to have to deal with things like love triangles and getting in to very complicated and sticky situations. I thought the characters to this book were great, Harper was a very good character to read through, she was a bit wishy washy and annoying at times but considering the situations she gets in it is understandable, Chase I loved right from the beginning with his crazy arrogant attitude. Brandon is a whole other ball game, super sweet but a bit of a badass all rolled in to one. I love the writing to these books, they are very realistic and make you feel like you are in the story. There is a huge twist in this book and I have never cried like that while reading a book before, and if you read this you will know what I am talking about. This book has everything, it will make you laugh, cry , scream , smile and cry some more, but overall this was such a great read and I can't wait till her next book comes out.
