about

"ANNE RICE WILL LIVE ON THROUGH THE AGES OF LITERATURE."
--San Francisco Chronicle
"TALTOS IS THE THIRD BOOK IN A SERIES KNOWN AS THE LIVES OF THE MAYFAIR WITCHES . . . Their haunted heritage has brought the family great wealth, which is exercised from a New Orleans manse with Southern gentility; but of course such power cannot escape notice . . . or challenge. . . Rice is a formidable talent. . .
[Taltos] is a curious amalgam of gothic, glamour fiction, alternate history, and high soap opera."
--The Washington Post Book World
"AN INTRICATE, STUNNING IMAGINATION."
--Los Angeles Times Book Review
"SPELLBINDING . . . MYTHICAL . . . Anne Rice is a pure storyteller."
--Cosmopolitan
"BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN."
--Kirkus Reviews (starred)
"Her power of invention seems boundless. . . . She has made a masterpiece of the morbid, worthy of Poe's daughter. . . . It is hard to praise sufficiently the originality of Miss Rice."
--The Wall Street Journal

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sad to see the story end Like many of Anne Rice's novels, I always want to read more. I thoroughly enjoyed the witches series. Very suspenseful!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Taltos Good story, but slow. It is very detailed (perhaps too much so) but true to Anne Rice's style

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really good but still missing something Great series but not for the fint harted. Anne Rice manages to keep you on your toes until the end but don't get discurage at first. Again some parts are hard to take but the intrigue is just amazing. A real triller. Now the only thing is I was expecting to finish at the end of book 3 but in the end the question remains when will Taltos come back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Taltos will return! Anne Rice is always dependable - she writes an excellent story in a historical fiction sense and there is always a part where one of the main characters relates the story of his/her life. That part is my favourite. In this novel you have to wait until near the end for this to occur but it is worth waiting for. Overall, the pace on this book is slow with no real critical events until the halfway mark. Once started, however, it continues right to the end. It is a nice wrap-up to her Witches trilogy and the ending makes it evident that the Taltos will be back at some point. Like all Rice novels, it is not scary in any way but suspenseful in parts. Definitely worth a read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from an extra opinion Anne Rice is a must. she always has and always will be. Her witches series was captivating, different and altogether mysterious like all her other works. Well, here lies the downfall on this one...everything was great....a lot of history... a lot of guessing...yet....unfortunately she stills keeps us guessing at the end. When i finished the book, hence the series, i felt like....where is the rest?..you cant just stop now!??!? all three books were leading here....so WHAT HAPPENS!!! I still loved it and i am sure her abrupt ending was done purposely of course....and i still love her for it. just read it.....you have come this far...you have to learn the rest!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Taltos - Anne Rice Excellent book! Taltos is a great read and a good way to end the Mayfair Witches Series! I truely enjoyed the book. It kepted me reading for hours and I did finish the book in record time. It is worth reading as long as you read all three books in order. WTG Anne Rice!! Well worth the time and the energy to read the tales of The Mayfair Witches!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent!!!!! Taltos is an excellent book! Anne Rice really knows how to write a book that you just can't put down!! I read this before I read the first two books of the series and I had to get them after!! Anne Rice is able to descibe images with words so well that I could see myself in the novel! I was part of the Mayfair family! I think that anybody that likes ficton will greatly enjoy this book!! And the whole series!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from satisfactory This book was cute with her own special blend of witches and morbid curiousity. It got to me and once I finished I just had to laugh it was great yet once complete a great weight of the witches was lifted off my shoulders.Read this book it will get inside the readers head and you will become part of the witch family and love it as did I.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Taltos A creative conclusion to the Mayfair Witches series, full of the eerie romance and gothic glitter Rice's fans have come to expect. A formidable writer, Rice has crafted yet another impressive volume. This story explains the origins of the spirit that has been haunting the Mayfair family for generations. Rice's creativity abounds once again, but this supposed finale to the series leaves the reader wanting more. The story doesn't seem quite over and hopefully Rice will put out another volume.
