about

Forty years after the Battle of Yavin a dangerous new era in the Star Wars epic begins– the revelations are shocking, the stakes desperate, and the enemy everywhere.

As civil war threatens the unity of the Galactic Alliance, Han and Leia Solo have enraged their families and the Jedi by joining the Corellian insurgents. But the Solos draw the line when they discover the rebels’ plot to make the Hapan Consortium an ally– which rests upon Hapan nobles murdering their pro-Alliance queen and her daughter.

Yet the Solos’ selfless determination to save the queen cannot dispel the inescapable consequences of their actions, that will pit mother against son and brother against sister in the battles ahead. For as Jacen Solo’s dark powers grow stronger under the Dark Jedi Lumiya, and his influence over Ben Skywalker becomes more insidious, Luke’s concern for his nephew forces him into a life-and-death struggle against his fiercest foe, and Han and Leia Solo find themselves at the mercy of their deadliest enemy . . . their son.

Features a bonus section following the novel that includes a primer on the Star Wars expanded universe, and over half a dozen excerpts from some of the most popular Star Wars books of the last thirty years!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Continues a decent, but not great start to the series Denning takes a lot of heat from Star Wars fans (much of it underserving), but to me, he did the best work of the three authors who contributed to the "Legacy of the Force" series. The series has been mediocre thus far, but after reading this book, it does feel like its trending up. This isn't the NJO or the superb "Star By Star" but it's worth reading if you're a Star Wars fan. I thought Denning did a great job of keeping the usually snore enduing Hapes Cluster interesting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another hit for Legacy series Troy Denning usually produces a top notch Star Wars adventure, and this one is no exception. Readers will enjoy the ever widening gap of mistrust between the Skywalkers and the Solos, the Skywalkers and their son & nephew, the Solos and their son, Jacen. It all looks to be leading to a new Darth, but will it be Jacen or Ben? At this point it is hard to tell if one or both become Sith Lords. Add to the action and suspense is the introduction (or is that return) of a bounty hunter from the distant past (Clone Wars era past) that seemingly, and unexpectedly, disappeared from the universe. My only complaint with this book was the too-many twists sometimes left me confused as to who was who and who was on whose side. I understand why Denning did it, to build suspense, but it became unclear what was going on at times and the ultimate result was a four star book that could have been a five.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Masterful series. I've read a lot of put downs about this series. A lot of people claiming their beloved characters have changed. I just don't see it. I think the characters remain wholly intact (albeit, some of them are older then I remember from the movies). The story is very well done. I've been unable to put down a single book in the series yet. All fans for the Star Wars Extended Universe should give this series a read. It's good stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved IT! I was surprised by new directions in the ongoing storyline at the beginning of this series, but I like all of the books. Every time a new one comes out, I finish it usually the same day, then I wait with great anticipation for the next one! Optimal entertainment!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chilling - An edge of your seat read It took me 6 hours to devour this book. Tempest is the perfect title for how you feel after you are finished. Jacen is positively spine chilling. Expect a lot more turmoil between Luke and Jacen, Jacen and his parents, Jacen and Jaina. But also expect a deepening in the relationship between Ben and Jacen. We also get to learn more about the relationship with Tenal Ka, and a view of her life on Hapes as well as a glimpse of Jacen's daughter Allana. All in all an edge of your seat read. This series is amazing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can Not wait All the other books ended great. This book wil probably be more about Jacen (or at lest ot seemed from the Trailer at the end of bloodlines.) This series has had everyone on the edge of there seats and will probably keep going like that. And the only problam with the series is thta you read it too fast and then have too wait for the next book.
