about

One of the most complete representations of this century's art to hit the shelves in years, The 20th-Century Art Book offers 500 full-page reproductions, each by a different artist. No matter how famous, each artist has but one page, accompanied by a concise, informative block of text. Presented in alphabetical order, each artist, regardless of stature, is treated in exactly the same manner as the other 499 others in the book. Some images are delightfully complimented, others deeply agitated by the work that, by chance of the alphabet, happens to lie on the facing page.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much Art! This is a huge well produced resource. Covers so many 20th century artists and their works. Historical significance. Used by teachers to show examples to students. As a second hand book it is a steal! I bought the big hard cover one. Do not know the dimensions of the paperback.

Extra Content

From Our Editors

From the same series as the best-selling The Art Book and The Photography Book, The 20th Century Art Book offers an alphabetical reference about 500 modern artists. Each page contains a colour plate of one representative work from the featured artist, accompanied by informative text and cross-references to other related artists. The volume includes a glossary of artistic terms and art movements in plain language, and a listing of galleries and museums around the world. This edition is a handy pocket-sized version of the original hardcover book.
