For tourists who want to avoid the well-known tourist spots and discover the locals' favorite addresses, and for residents who want to get to know their city even better, this handy little guide is eminently useful. Written by a true local, the book includes lists such as the 5 best vintage markets, the 5 best workplaces for freelancers and the 5 best concert venues. It features 500 addresses and facts that few people know, such as a restaurant where you can order a French meal until 3:30 in the morning, a small stationer's where the daylight streams in gloriously and you can find the most beautiful Japanese paper creations, or a little shop where gifts like embroidered serviettes are made to order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An indispensable guide for the of-the-moment, off-the-beaten-path visit I have been visiting Paris for over twenty years and returned recently. I was looking for a guide, but did not want the usual, tourist one. I came across the French version on Chocolate and Zucchini. As luck would have it, this translation was available in Canada via Indigo. So many of the recommendations were exactly what I was looking for. There isn't a proper map within, nor does it have a metro map, but it is now easy enough to cross-reference with an app. Marie Farman seems to have her finger on Paris's current pulse. If you have been to the city before and would like to avoid heavily-touristed sites, I recommend this book. Hope further editions follow!
