After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What A Wonderful Read This book, series and all, is amazing. Well written and will hold the interest of anyone who loves old tales and adventure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED IT!!! I got this book for Christmas a couple of years ago and I absolutely loved it!!
Date published: 2017-01-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best fantasy YA series ever! This book grabs your attention from page 1. I often tell people that "it's like the Tri-Wizard Tournament, but with assassins." There's a vast amount of world building and history and it’s portrayed with great detail and it’s very easy to visualize in your mind. It practically takes you straight into the mines, forests and palaces. Additionally, the complex legends and mythology that create a rich cultured world add more depth to the world. Not only is our main character, Celaena, a total boss, she's also smart, witty, and kind. She is still a teenager, she's not some stone-hearted drone. Her character is believable, you;ll just have to read the book to find out why that is. Now, I have to mention the obvious love angle. Maas executes it superbly and ensures that the romance isn’t the prime factor in the story. It has to be the best love angle I’ve ever read about. We also delve into not only romance but a deep, female friendship. Which is refreshing and heartwarming. It's a wonderful beginning to a high fantasy YA series. (Warning: Don’t listen to any Hobbit or Lord of the Rings soundtracks or else prepare for and overwhelming amount of feels.)”

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic A lovely start to the series, where Sarah incorporated much detail thought into the characters that I enjoyed every second of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than I ever expected. #plumreview I have never been much of a reader. This was the first book I have picked up in a long time and it has led me to a completely new book loving world. Thank you Sarah J. Maas! I've never felt so indulged in something as I have in your books.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great start to ane epic fantasy I've noticed with Maas series she tends to make you think you're getting a generic teen fantasy romance but then she starts with the hard hitting characterization and plot points and you know you're in for a real ride. The love interests are actually likeable and the chemistry is palpable which is hard to get across in a novel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YES The book is very different from the description on the back, but it's absolutely amazing! The rest of the series goes in a very different direction and this books sets up a great base for them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Badassness! (Is that a word? No, but that's how i'd describe this book) I was very intrigued by the Medivalesque world, characters and competition. I love Celaena! She is so fierce and badass, but also very human and vulnerable (isn't that what we all love?). All the characters were diverse and captivating in thir seperate ways. ESPECIALLY Dorian (The Crown Prince of Ardalan *swooning*) Read the book and decide for yourself *wink

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't understand the hype I wasn't all that impressed with this book. I'm not a big fan of love triangles and didn't find the plot particularly interesting. I also am a little bit sick of the "bad ass female main character" who doesn't even appear to be that much of a bad ass. I felt like the author kept mentioning how amazing of a fighter the main character was I do think the story has potential so I may check out the second book in the series in the future but certainly won't be rushing to do so.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a good read I read this book in 24 hours when I was on vacation. I absolutely loved it and the characters. I think this series will have a lot of interesting plot twists that will keep you guessing. Just started the second book and I am so excited !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible. I fell in love with the characters immediately. Celaena's story continued to evolve, always hiding something else about her past around the corner. It always kept me wanting to know more, and since I've first read this book, I've purchased every single other book Maas has published. I've felt that this series has continued to evolve in a way no one expected, and that's awesome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Beginning of the Series! At first, I was uncertain about this series but after picking up the book, I couldn't put it down! This book is a bit more realistic than the other books in the Throne of Glass series. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Read!! If you haven't picked up a Sarah J Maas book, you haven't lived. I put her up there with the likes of JK Rowling. Her writing may be a bit annoying at some points, with overused words and spelling errors, but her world building is amazing. This is the beginning of a series that is sure to sweep you away. I orginially picked up the book because I was told if I liked Assassin's Creed I would like this, I have to say I wasn't disappointed. It has a good dose of adventure, fantasy and romance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic I loved being thrust into this story from the first words on the page. The mystery surrounding Celaena kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to learn more about her character and how she became who she was. I instantly fell in love with the characters from the get-go, and the story was a neat concept, and let me give praise to Sarah for such a well developed world that I enjoyed very much so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great series I keep recommending this series to friends (especially since they're developing a television series - Queen of Shadows). And whenever I go back to recommending this book, I'm reminded of how far we've come on Celaena's journey as the series progressed. Sarah J. Maas has done an excellent job of introducing flawed, dynamic characters, who are constantly growing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great start to the series It was a wonderful read and lived up to the expectations from all the hype.
Date published: 2016-12-25
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I recommend reading the novellas prior to reading this First, let me just say this book starts out with a bang from page one. Initially, I was confused because the book started out like the reader knew the main character Celaena and her history. While trying to figure out if I was reading the series in order, I realized that there were novellas published surrounding Celaena's past and I did order those but continued reading this novel. Eventually, I was brought up to speed and felt more in tune with the main character. With that being said, I think with this series the novellas do have a heavy importance and should be read as a prequel to the series. As for the novel, I really enjoyed it. It felt like a combination of The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones, both which I like. As well, the whole concept of a competition for an assassin felt intriguing to me and I was surprised who the murderer ended up being (surprising me can be rare). As for the length of the novel, part of me believes that it was unnecessarily long. I did like the details of the novel but there was moments that I believe the story was lagging. I'm interested in reading more of the series (especially after I read the novellas) but I'm hoping if the subsequent novels are as long, that it will be for a good reason and not just filler.

Date published: 2016-12-17
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I didn't love it, but I did enjoy it. A snarky female assassin who loves books, music, and candy. What's not to love? Well, a few things... I understand the point of having a female protagonist physically appraised by those around her; to establish that she's more than just attractive, to demonstrate the attitudes of other characters toward her, and to establish rivalries. All that being said, it happened way too often and Celaena's enjoyment of it felt completely out of character for someone raised to be an assassin. Sometimes she called men out for their sexism, and sometimes she thrived on it... didn't make sense to me. The love triangle was just plain boring, as well as more than a little annoying. Her thing for Dorian made zero sense and, while her thing for Chaol made a little more sense, it felt extremely forced. I'm not a fan of love triangles like this in general, but this one was particularly out of place and unnecessary. There was more natural chemistry with Nox, in my opinion; I really enjoyed their interactions and I hope he'll show up again. The storytelling was great, but the narrative style occasionally bothered me. There was a lot of flipping between POVs and I didn't personally feel there was always enough distinction between them. Sometimes I had to go back and double check which POV I was reading because the characters seemed to have the same voice. And let's not gloss over the fact that there's no way a highly trained assassin wouldn't be able to hit a ball with a pool cue. All that being said, even though I didn't love it, I did enjoy the book and I do plan to read the others in the series. Celaena is a unique protagonist when she's not mooning over men, and I really enjoyed Nehemia's storyline. I'm not 100% sold on the world building toward the end as far as the magic goes, but since that wasn't REALLY the focus of this book, I'm hoping that will improve; I did really enjoy the concept of this magic overall.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh I read this book before the hype and I was not blown away like most people. I found it boring and characters unrelatable. Wasn't intriguing enough. Now that I see all the raving ratings and reviews perhaps I'll give it another shot one day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love love love it I love female assassin novels, and especially when they take place in the past. The fantasy aspect to this story helps tie it all together. A great book!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good fantasy interesting world + story, wished we would see more of what being an assassin does to one's character
Date published: 2016-12-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favourite fantasy series! Celaena Sardothien is the most renown assassin of the kingdom, Endovier. Only problem: one year ago she was unlucky enough to be arrested and as a sentence she has been a slave in the salt mines of Endovier for the past year. Until the Crown Prince comes get her so she can be his champion in a tournament the king has organized to have his very own assassin at his service. If Celaena wins the tournament she would only have to work for four years with the king and then she would have her freedom back. That’s a really good reason to have a reason to win against her other components… This book really is amazing. I loved it from the beginning to the end and it is really action packed so you don’t have time to get bored. I also love Celaena so much. She is such a strong and independent character. And very badass since she is able to kill everyone in like three seconds. I though the world building was a little confusing a first, but that’s always the thing when I read fantasy. I got used to it after a while and I realized it was actually very interesting. There’s also the presence of love triangle but it is not overwhelming in the story and it is well organized which is great because I’ve read a lot of books where the love triangle was taking over the plot of the story and I didn’t like it much. In conclusion, I recommend this to everyone who likes fantasy and badass female characters. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try it, you won't regret it! This is one of my all time favorite books. I was hooked from the first page and it left me thinking about it long after I finished it. I recently leant it to a friend who wasn't interested at all. She normally reads 1 book every few months and said it wasn't her thing. It took a lot of convincing and she finally started reading it. She messaged me 5 pages in to tell me how much she was loving it and she flew through 4 books in the series in less than 2 weeks.
Date published: 2016-12-05
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but not my favourite... This book was highly recommended to me by one of my friends, and I was very excited to read it. Unfortunately it was a bit slow for me (I guess this is understandable considering it was the first book in the series), and it dragged on a little too long. I've read Sarah's other work and loved them because they were a lot more fast paced and didn't take long to get to the interesting bits.
Date published: 2016-12-04
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, Much Entertaining Well on stuff. I mean, it was very entertaining, and I clung on to the characters like I clung on to my mother as a child. I couldn't move until I finished the whole thing. I feel no regret for reading this, other than the fact that my mind has been completely boggled, and will be until I read the next book.
Date published: 2016-12-04

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The fantasy you crave! Sarah J. Maas writes an amazing fantasy that I read in one day because it was so good! The characters are funny, smart, and compassionate and the world is dynamic, well built and imagined. I would recommend it to anyone.
Date published: 2016-12-04
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unintelligent and predictable This book offers nothing new and is filled with the ya fantasy cliches you've come to expect. Unless you're either a romance-thirsty thirteen year old or you like predictable plotlines and pointless love triangles, this book isn't for you. The books don't get any better after this one, either.
Date published: 2016-12-02

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can't Wait to Continue This Series! I really enjoyed this first instalment of the Throne of Glass series! While the overall plot in this novel seems to just be setting up our main characters position in the series, I really grew to love (or love to hate for a couple) our main characters! The relationships between the characters are interesting, and I find myself really excited to see them in other adventures!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Refreshing I love Celaena as a protag. She's fierce and strong but feels a bit more special than the usual YA protagonist. This book has all of the elements I like in YA series but twists them a little bit so it's not exactly like every other book you've read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great characters and Great book I had actually finished reading this book March 14th, but have been really busy lately. I do not like to post blogs unless I get time to put some thought into what I am writing and what I have read. I am sure all of you appreciate that idea, I mean no one wants to read something that is a waste of time right? So here it is, my along waited review on "Throne of Glass." I have been anxious to read this series since I first laid eyes on it in the book store. The first thing that drew me to this book was the cover. I am sure if you have read my other book reviews, you will notice this is a major part of my decision making (not the only part) when choosing a book to read. The cover art is amazing on this book. Of course, I am aware of the alternate cover. However the picture I posted with this review is the cover that I seen and peaked my interest. However there is another cover to this series that later on I had found and definitely fell in love with. Needless to say, I bought it right away to add to my collection. Yes I own the whole series in both covers. Continuing on with my review of this grand book that Sarah so graciously blessed us with. The story line is about a female assassin who was captured and imprisioned in a harsh camp, until one day she was released on the basis of competing in a tournament (is that really the word I would use for this). I just don't want to release any major spoilers for this book, because if you have not read this book, I definitely think you should. But be fair warned this is not a light read (at least it was not for me) so take your time and absorb the story. I really found that I did. I really started to feel as if I was getting to know the character personally. She was a great strong female role, and very quirky. A little on the rough side, but with her back story, I started to realize the reason why. Of course there is magical properties that show up in the story. And what book would not be complete without the love story part. I did however find that the last part of the book moved really fast. A wonderful build up throughout the book, but then BAM here is the action and then it's over. But don't let what I have said there stop you from picking this book up. I enjoyed this read immensely and would definately recommend giving it a read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! I was in a book hangover after reading the Mortal Instruments, and this was the perfect fix! Celaena is such a fierce and strong character, and it's almost impossible not to fall in love with this book (or ship her with a few certain characters - no spoilers!) The plot is spot on and mixes a few different genres together, so it becomes even more interesting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overhyped Poorly written, overhyped badass characters that aren't that kick ass, a dumb love triangle, instalove for no other reason than that both of the characters were good looking. Although I wasn't very fond of this book, I still read the second one and am happy that I did. This book was intense and enjoyable, however Cealena was an annoying main character who tried too hard to convince the readers she was bad ass, when she doesn't even kill anyone. This book was too hyped for me to thoroughly enjoy it. If I didnt read book two, I wouldnt recommend this to anyone, but I have so I do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Start to a Series!!! This book is such a thrilling read, filled with romance, suspense, and a badass female protagonist. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Love it! Love it! This was AWESOME!!! What a fantastically built world, amazing characters, cool story, wicked magic, and explosive ending! I couldn't get enough! The story hooks you right from the beginning, and it's impossible not to fall in love with Celaena Sardothien's fiery spirit and strength. I loved her attitude, especially when it came to Crown Prince Dorian and Captain of the Guard, Chaol Westfall. As you can guess, there's a bit of a love triangle, but it's not contrived and to be honest, the romance isn't even a huge part of the story. It's all about the trials Celaena must endure to earn her chance at freedom. And they're pretty intense challenges against formidable opponents who make the huge mistake of underestimating her. As the story progressed there was a larger fantasy element, the seeds of what will become a truly epic story. Lots of questions were left unanswered, and I'm eager to devour the next book. The characters are all wonderful, not just Celaena but her friends Dorian, Chaol, and Nehemia (LOVE this feisty princess!). There's just so much here, I can't even begin to describe it, so much of Celaena left to be discovered, so many more adventures to be had, and after that stellar final battle, I can only imagine how intense things will get soon. Definitely deserves the hype and is not to be missed by any fantasy reader! Love it! Love it! Love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great series, decent start After reading the first few chapters of this book I wasn't entirely impressed, mostly due to Celaena's narration, which I thought was a bit much. However, as I delved deeper into the story, I became fascinated with the intricate layers of the plot. Also, by the second half of the book Celaena becomes a much better narrator (the beginning is really off but otherwise I like her). The most important thing is that even if you found this book to be just ok READ CROWN OF MIDNIGHT! The sequel is arguably the best out of the five books out so far (the most recent Empire of Storms is also amazing). In a fantasy series the first book is often of lesser quality, since the authors focus too much on the world building, don't let that stop you from continuing this great series!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poorly written but still enjoyed it immensely! I found Throne of Glass to be a fast-paced and compelling read that captured my attention and allowed me to overlook some seriously poor writing and a very self-absorbed narcissistic main character. Caleana is supposed the be the "world's greatest assassin", so why is her character more concerned with her appearance and love-triangle than she is at defeating her competitors and winning her freedom???? Caleana acted more like a whiny entitled teenage girl than a deadly assassin. Giving this book a higher rating than it deserved as the overall plot kept me thouroughly engrossed and the sequels just get better and better!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent book! My friend lent me this book last year and it was really good. It's a prefect way to set up the complex series that comes after it, all while engaging the reader. Celaena is a very interesting protagonist, revealing traits of her character throughout the entire novel, but stil leaving us with a slight sens of mystery as if she was more than just an assassin. This book is very good, well written, and perfectly complex for its universe. I really enjoyed it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It may take some getting used to for some people. I will admit that at the start of the book, I was unsure how much I was going to like the lead character, as for the first quarter of the book, she doesn't seem like the most likable protagonist. But by the end of it, I did care enough about her that I did wind up really enjoying it, maybe not as much as the fans make it out to be, but still a fun ride nonetheless.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Patience I bought this book 2 months ago because there was so much hype around this series. To be completely honest it was just okay. It took me a month to read it. Usually I could read a book in 2-5 days. Some parts of the book were long and felt a little boring. Its okay though because when I picked up the second book it was phenomenal! There was a whole lot of character development, a better plot and a great twist:) I gave it a solid 5 out of 5 stars! Basically you have to be patient with the first book because it just gets better and better as the series goes on!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for me It's a funny thing when you hear nothing but praise and rave reviews for a book -- the expectations when you read it are so high. I'd heard so much about Throne of Glass, that it was one of the best series ever. I did enjoy the book, but I didn't love it. It feels awkward to be in the minority this way, but there you go. Maas' writing is lovely. She has a way with words and descriptions. The world that she created was vivid and easy to understand. I wanted to love Celaena, but I didn't. She is an 18 year old assassin, the best one around, she's lived as a slave in the salt mines for the last year and has managed to survive when most die within months. She has all of this grit and toughness, but we don't really see it much in the book. Mostly, the characters refer back to it. Granted, she is in a competition during the course of the book against 12 others to become the King's Champion. She shows toughness and skill there, but we don't really see that part of her that everyone talks about. Instead she seems way more concerned with pretty dresses and attending parties. It's a bit Cinderella-like. Then there is the love triangle -- Celaena is attracted both to the prince and the captain of the guard. This seemed a bit forced to me. I did enjoy the friendship between Celaeana and the visiting princess and the involvement of the magical elements in the story. And I did want to read and find out how the story ended, but I don't think this is the series for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Worth The Hype It's not that Throne of Glass was awful, it was alright. To me it just came off as unoriginal and a little shallow. The author used a lot of tell with no show. The main character is supposed to be this kick-ass assassin, the best assassin in the whole-world basically but when it comes down to it she was pretty much a wimp. We saw next to none of this bad-assery. Instead, what we saw was a lot of high school level flirting, bitchiness, and worrying over whether both of the super-hot-manly-men escorting the MC to and fro were properly obsessed with her (they are. of course they are in a completely unsurprising turn of events. God forbid the protagonist not be the most beautifully sculptured piece of art brought to life the universe has ever seen). This book was much more of a watered down Disney version of the intense hardened warrior I was hoping for and expecting. ...Also I can sense a love triangle brewing and if there is one thing that I can't stand it's the love triangle. WHY PEOPLE, WHY THE LOVE TRIANGLE. IT'S A DISEASE. Despite all this I will be picking up the second book. There has to be a reason everyone is raving about this series. Plot: 2/5 Characters: 2.5/5 Writing:2/5 Pacing:4/5

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic read! This is my first high fantasy novel, and may I just say, it was absolutely amazing! I sped through this. The protagonist is beautifully developed. I also think that this unusual magical touch makes the world feel so real. Recommended to all- I came to this series from a light sci-fi and contemporary marathon!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An Epic Fantasy You'll Love I can't believe I didn't get on this bandwagon sooner! I absolutely loved reading Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas and I'm already on the third book of the series! Although there are a couple things that irked me (you can read more about that on my blog https://youfoundmarina.wordpress.com ) there was plenty I loved! Sarah J. Mass has created a world that feels completely real. The story and characters she’s placed in this world entice my imagination and keep me reading day after day after day after day… well, you get the picture. Celaena, our protagonist, is a smart-mouthed, tough, badass female who I’d love to be friends with. She’s incredibly real-life and despite how little Maas lets us know about Celaena I root for her on every page. In any series there is risk of developing characters too soon, especially in a character driven story. Three books in, and we still get new details about Celaena, Chaol, and Dorian (and more). Throne of Glass inspired me to hone the characters in my own novel. It got me writing again. Now that’s what I call good fiction.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from delightful This book is amazing and easily became one of my favourite books of all time! Celaena Sardothien is an awesome female protagonist. I love how she can fight and she is Adarlan's Assassin, but she also has this girly side where she dresses up in pretty gowns.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful writing I didn’t have a lot of expectations when I started reading this book and even though I had heard a lot of great stuff about it, I tried not to get affected by that. I also had no idea what the book was about when I began, except that the main character was an assassin. Towards the end of the book, I was really happy that I had not read the synopsis or any reviews of the book since that made it more exciting in a way. Overall, I think this book is really good and it’s definitely worth reading. I can also see why it’s such a popular series. However, I did find it to be a bit slow at times. There wasn’t really a lot of things going on and most pages seemed to me nothing but beautiful descriptions of everything from falling leaves to starlit skies. But Sarah J. Maas’ beautiful writing is also what makes it all worth it, and even if I felt like I wanted more twists and turns and action, her writing made me keep reading all the way to the end. It wasn’t one of those books I struggled to put down and I never felt like I just had to keep reading because I was so eager to know what was going to happen, which is a bit disappointing. I haven’t read one of those books in a very long time and I wanted this to be like that. This was a book I enjoyed reading because of the writing style and the way Sarah J. Maas can make magic with her words. The main character Celeana is fun and strong and I like her. Still, I think she sometimes is a bit too weak and whiny though. I get why a young woman would be like that, but the most famous assassin? Not so much. So, this is a book I can highly recommend for anyone to read. It’s masterfully written, had an interesting plot and great characters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great new series :) I'll be honest: I was a bit surprised by how LONG this book was, but having finished it via happy reading marathon, I can't say that I'm complaining (well, too much, anyway). Maas is very clearly writing a fantasy epic at a YA reading level, and I'm into it. I'm also (obvs) into such a kick-ass main character, all the hints of magic, and (can't help it) the love triangle to come. Looking forward to the second book :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just Okay Considering how much hype I had heard about this novel and been told "Oh Jamie you will love this, it is right up your alley" it was not that great. It had a great build up and the first 10% of the novel was really interesting, but it got too bogged down in politics. I think the testing needed to move along faster than it actually did to be able to keep my attention. There was too much in this first novel about what the rest would entail that it made this first novel really dense with information about a back story that the reader had yet to come across or even care about. The world building was horrible, in my opinion. Probably because there was a lack of it. If you are going to tell me a race has been completely abolished from the world, tell me why and how the bring them back permanently. This novel made it obvious that while the characters and King and everyone in the world thought the fae were completely extinct, they are not. The use of magic in this novel was different. But teetering on bad different. The rituals were strange and the idea behind a set of symbols that only certain characters with certain historical background would know irks me for some reason. That's probably nit-picky but if I am going to read a fantasy novel, I want it to make sense. I can already sense an unnecessary love triangle and I am not pleased by it. I would be more okay with it if it didn't seem like Celaena was choosing between a life of fun and danger and one of settling. I don't see why authors think it is appealing to "choose" between the fun guy that you would sneak around with and the boring one that you would bring home to mom. Why can't they both have these aspects to them? Or better yet, just have one guy who embodies both and don't make the heroine into some love sick puppy. Overall: 3/5 stars. I will be continuing the series because I have heard such good things about it, but so far I'm underwhelmed. Also I have to decide if I want to stick with ebooks or buy paperbacks/hardcovers so I have been dragging my feet because I don't have the next one yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indigo Staff Pick This book is so good! I first heard of throne of glass from my cousin who was a fan of the series from its origins on fiction-press, she was completely obsessed with the series and highly recommended it to me. I finally found the time to check it out, but sadly lost track and never completed it. I am so glad I picked it up again in its published form because this is one of the BEST fantasy series I have EVER read! The main character Calaena is basically the best assassin in all the land who is totally a badass! Calaena is such an amazing character, with a lot of depth and an intriguing and dark past, that we get glimpses of throughout the series. There is so much going on in these books! The fighting, the deceit, the romance! it's all very high stakes stuff it's basically impossible to put down.
