The Black Box

by Michael Connelly

Grand Central Publishing | October 15, 2013 | Mass Market Paperbound

The Black Box is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 20.
In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved.

Now Bosch's ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the "black box," the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.

Riveting and relentlessly paced, THE BLACK BOX leads Harry Bosch, "one of the greats of crime fiction" (New York Daily News), into one of his most fraught and perilous cases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent This is one of the best "Harry Bosch" stories written. While keeping the reader on the edge of thier seat with the fast paced investigation, the tale also showes the human side of the character and re-enforces the old saying that "no man is an island" Fantastic read for those long winter days. You will not be able to put it down!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent A great read, as usual. I'm working my way through all of Michael Connelly's books. I find it amazing how investigators (in real life as well as Harry) stick with cases over the years. Love the bits about Harry's interactions with his teenage daughter as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I really enjoyed this book. I have read many of Michael Connelly's novels and have yet to be disappointed. The characters are well formed and the story makes sense. Would recommend this author to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I have been reading the Harry Bosch books for years, and having another one to read is like greeting an old friend. It is just nice to spend time with Harry again and watch him solving a case. I wish real life cops were all this persistent with their cases (I'm sure many are)!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Once again with his bulldog personality Harry won't let go. It doesn't matter to Harry whether its a movie star or a homeless person, he attacks the case with a passion and a resolve to find the killer, and make them accountable for the murder of a helpless victim. Another great read from one of the best authors of our time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Bosch is a smart and cunning crime investigator who is nobody's fool. You can't help but like the guy and Connelly seems to keep you spell-bound with both the predicaments in which Bosch finds himself and the masterful ways in which he solves every problem. No Connelly book is boring and The Black Box no exception. As fast paced as a cheetah chasing an impala.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent If you like roller coaster rides, you'll love Michael Connelly's 'The Black Box'. Lots of twists and turns and stomach-churning action. This book will keep you hanging on until the final pages. Definitely worth the 'ride'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Once again Michael Connelly at his best. Having read all the Harry Bosch stories one gets to know the man, his obsessive drive to resolve murders, in this case his personal attachment, and his personal life and relationships. On this occasion Harry is determined to solved a mystery which he was assigned, briefly, too during the L.A. riots, then subsequently delegated as unsolved. A great read and devoured over a few days, which is good for me.
