1942: Boldly advancing through Asia, the Japanese need a train route from Burma going north. In a prison camp, British POWs are forced into labor. The bridge they build will become a symbol of service and survival to one prisoner, Colonel Nicholson, a proud perfectionist. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Book! The book Bridge on the River Kwai was a very good book. It used very mature and descriptive word choice with clever irony and conflict and an intriguing plot. Colonel Nicholson, one of the main characters is one of the most magnificent people you will ever read about. He was very extraordinary. The ending of the novel was fantastic yet I still cant believe that Shears and Joyce died! Warden still survived! Of course Colonel Nicholson stopped the sabotage of the bridge! Overall a very good 4 star book!
