Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful read! I read this years ago in grade school and remember being emotional and moved deeply. It is a beautiful book, and I have my copy sitting on a bookshelf, waiting to be shared if I have a child, or to anyone interested.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lest we forget... I wondered if I could find something for my grandson to read about WWI, to help him understand why we remember...I found it! A book about a lion, a boy, and remembering! This story should be part of every child's library... No wonder Michael Morpurgo was named the Children's Laureate in 2003. I will be reading this aloud to my grandsons this November!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommended This is a real gem, it has to be one of my all-time favourite children's books. Beautifully & imaginatively written it illustrates the power of commitment between a boy and a lion. I have just finished reading it to my 7 year old son and it was wonderful to see him transported right into the events that take place by Michael Morpurgo's wonderful story telling. I'm sure that this will be a book that we will go back to again & again.
