Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Book! One of my first Dr. Seuss books that I had as a child, and I read it all the time. Very funny, happy, and evokes curiousity in children. It keeps them wondering and creative, which is always appreciated. Still have it on my bookshelf today. Great read for all ages!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Cat's ALL THAT "In a world gone horribly wrong, full of giant mutant cats attired in fancy costumes, baring boxes full of horrendous oddities, and overly dictative talking fish...a young boy and his sister Sally, find themselves trapped, and under the spell of the want to do bad things!".....that's how the movie trailer would read anyways. In reality....this is the classic book that nearly every child, and adult should read,or have read to them. Two children left at home by their mother,on a boring rainy day,and told to behave. Enter the Cat In The Hat....who's goal in life, seems to be doing anything but behaving! The childrens goldfish is the voice of reason, but he is easily out voted,by the want to have "fun". But as we learn, fun that is without boundries,is fun that causes trouble! I remember this book as a child, and we all delighted in a Cat in a Hat,but how soon we would wish we were as smart as a fish! A great read for ALL,and a must for any childs library.

After all, the Cat has got tricks up his sleeve that will keep you on your toes while you have the time of your life. As he searches the house for his lost, moss-covered, three-handled, family gredunza, Thing One and Thing Two wreak havoc in every room. It's so much fun it's easy to forget about the massive mess that you're creating in mom's neatly tidied house - until she walks up the steps! Not to worry: the Cat's got the solution for that and it's in his hat...

Employee Review

Instead of reviewing this modern classic, I want to give you a new reason to read it. In the early 1950s, the Connecticut school board decided that a major impediment to learning was that the Dick and Jane texts were dull. According to the biography Dr. Seuss and Mr. Geisel, a publisher read the report and contacted Dr. Seuss to create a new reading book, using the 220 words he provided. Why 220? Because people felt that was the maximum that kids could absorb. Seuss had the title within moments, but it took him nine months to write the rest. Read this book again for the first time!
