Rated 1 out of 5 by from The author of this book has an agenda Dr Barnard writes and gives speeches for PETA, which of course, he is paid to do. This is not mentioned in his books, which promote a dairy and meat free diet. This conflict of interest in not noted in his books. Furthermore, eliminating an entire food group is almost never a good idea, except in cases of intolerance. Moderation works!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Your favorite food could create serious health problems I bought this book because I was curious to learn why cheese could be so bad. I knew about milk which is not good for human except babies, but I taught cheese was good. I learned why cheese was not better, because the fat and the proteins are even more concentrated. Also, cheese can add calories rapidly since we often add it to our food, like in a cheese burger for example. There are also the hormones given to the cows that can make their way in the cheese. He indicates that cheese can be addictive. Some alternatives to cheese are given including a lot of recipes. Even if you are not a vegan and still consume animal proteins, this is worth reading.
