At last—the long-awaited complete compendium of tightwad tips for fabulous frugal living!

In a newsletter published from May 1990 to December 1996 as well as in three enormously successful books, Amy Dacyczyn established herself as the expert of economy. Now The Complete Tightwad Gazette brings together all of her best ideas and thriftiest thinking into one volume, along with new articles never published before in book format. Dacyczyn describes this collection as "the book I wish I'd had when I began my adult life." Packed with humor, creativity, and insight, The Complete Tightwad Gazette includes hundreds of tips for anyone looking to save money or get out of debt, such as:

Travel for tightwads • How to transform old blue jeans into potholders and quilts • Ten painless ways to save $100 this year • Picture-framing for pennies • A comparison of painting versus re-siding your house • Halloween costumes from scrounged materials • Thrifty window treatments • Ways to dry up dry-cleaning costs • Inexpensive gifts • Creative fundraisers for kids • Slashing your electric bill • Frugal fix-its • Cutting the cost of college • Moving for less • Saving on groceries • Gift-wrapping for tightwads • Furniture-fusion fundamentals • Cheap breakfast cereals • Avoiding credit card debt • Using items you were about to throw away (milk jugs, plastic meat trays, and more!) • Recipes galore, from penny-pinching pizza to toaster pastries • And much much more . .
Amy Dacyczyn is the former editor of The Tightwad Gazette, a newsletter that ran in the 1990s and promoted a lifestyle of frugality. Her work on the newsletter is collected in several Tightwad Gazette volumes and can be found in full in The Complete Tightwad Gazette.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trule the THRIFT BIBLE!!! I love learning about personal finances and ways of saving money. And I thought I read it all and knew a lot, till this! They're all pretty obvious things, but just reinforces the thinking of always trying to reuse, consume less... and ofcourse save money in the process! It made me look for DIY Halloween decorations... and all sorts of other things. Very easy to read. Can read a bit and put it down (and it'S HUGE so u just might!). Truly a must go to!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing, eyeopening read. This book is not just how to save money, it's a whole lifestyle. I loved it so much, it really made me think about what we spend money on, and if it is really that important to our happiness. Now, I get a huge thrill from getting the best possible deal, instead of paying full retail price. I just love how she makes setting goals and saving the money to reach those goals attainable by doing such simple things as cooking from scratch and hanging the laundry. A must read for anyone ready for a simpler life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Frugal Zealot Strikes Again About six months ago, I picked up "The Complete Tightwad Gazette" out of sheer curiosity. I'd been looking for some time for little ways I could save some money, and this book is chock full of them. The most interesting of Mrs. Dacyczyn's philosophies, in my opinion, was the concept of "paying yourself for your time". Example: if you can make a pizza at home for three dollars in ten minutes, and the same pizza at the pizza shop costs ten dollars, you save seven dollars for that ten minutes of work, or earn an hourly wage of $42! Amy includes tips for virtually every aspect of your life, and her book has literally changed mine! This book will never leave my bookcase.
