A heartfelt plea to look into the death of a world-famous vintner goes hand in hand with the opportunity to attend an exclusive gourmet event in British Columbia's stunning wine country. How can overindulgent foodie and criminologist Cait Morgan resist?

Sure that the award-winning owner of a family-run vineyard was murdered, Cait shares her findings with Bud Anderson, a retired homicide cop. But he is convinced that the woman took her own life, whatever her grief-stricken sister might say. That is, until death strikes once again, in the neat rows of grapevines that clamber up the banks of magnificent Lake Okanagan. Uncovering obsessions that might have fuelled murderous thoughts among the victim's wacky neighbours is a start, but as Cait unravels the clues, she realizes that more lives are at stake. Can she think, and act, quickly enough to thwart the killer?

The Corpse with the Golden Nose is the second book in the Cait Morgan Mysteries, a classic whodunit series featuring the eccentric Professor Cait Morgan.

Cathy Ace is Welsh Canadian. Born, raised and educated in Wales, Cathy enjoyed a successful career in marketing and training across Europe for twenty years before migrating to Vancouver, Canada.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't live up to the setting Wine, food, and the Okanagan valley - unfortunately not interestingly developed, and peopled with a bunch of unbelievable oddballs who do little but pose until the sleuth gathers them in a room for the 'aha' moment. I wasn't expecting high literature, but this feels like the author's heart was not in it. Noting her background, was she more focussed on marketing than writing? For a better foodie mystery, try Diane Mott Davidson.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The corpse with the golden nose Very shallow mystery story . Too many other good murder mystery stories eg Nordic noir to occupy good reading time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun Romp in Canadian Wine County Second in the Cait Morgan series, The Corpse with the Golden Nose sends criminologist-professor Cait and her retired lawman partner Bud Anderson into Canadian wine country in the beautiful British Columbia Okanagan. Bud’s had a request from Ellen Newman to look into the suspicious suicide of her sister, Annette, co-owner of a prosperous family winery. Authorities agree that the despondent woman asphyxiated herself in her truck after drinking herself into a stupor. Her bizarre behaviour in recent weeks proved that she was not her usual self. Even more curious is her new will, leaving her half of the business to a dashing young vintner called Raj, a competitor. Why did she add “and his first-born”? Highly organized Ellen has provided the duo with a dossier about the strange and contentious locals on the margins of her eccentric sister’s life. She’s also arranged it so that the sleuthing pair can enjoy a “moveable feast” at nearby wineries and homes, a prestigious “foodie” event. How better to assess the possibilities than to observe suspects relaxed and voluble after a few glasses? Those who enjoy traditional closed-room mysteries with a tasty addition of food and wine will turn these pages with delight.
