At first Eliza is happy with her new life at boarding school, settling into the Yellow Dorm, making new friends, learning the rituals of school life and doing well in her classes. But a bond begins to develop between Eliza and Helen, a mischievous, unpopular girl who defies authority, plays practical jokes and doesn't seem to care what others think of her. It is Helen who starts the daring game among the first girls in the Yellow Dorm.

Customer Reviews of The Daring Game

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favourite! Like many Canadians of my generation, I have adored Pearson's writing since I was a kid. Now, as an adult, I still get excited for a new release from one of my favourite authors. This one was my absolute favourite book. I must have read it 50 times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favourites I read this book when I was probably in grade seven and when I reread the book a few years later, I still loved it. I really liked how Ms. Person captured that time when a girl is just becoming a teenager, but still acts and behaves like a child. The awkwardness of Eliza really comes through as she tries to fit in at an all-girls school in Vancouver for grade seven year. What she finds is a kindred spirit in her classmate, Helen.
