Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing If you read or follow other Dr. Sears titles, this book is amazing. So much of it is just common sense, but in this busy world unfortunately we don't often take the time to use it. This book not only brings to light great techniques for raising your child, it will also shed light on those areas of your own personality that sometimes make you wonder 'where did that quirk come from'. I have even recommended this book to friends without children just because I found the cause and effect of different forms of discipline (or lack there of) so insightful. Its not rocket science - just common sense. Definitely a great pairing to their other books. I love Dr. Sears!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Practical ideas You can trust Dr. Sears - pediatrian, author and father of 8. In this book he identifies 'discipline' as lifelong teaching and explains how your daily interactions with your child affect his behavior. Gives advice on how to prevent, as well as stop, problem behaviors. A big, fat book with lots of information. I'd also recommend a new book called Perfect Parenting by Elizabeth Pantley (Sears wrote the foreword)
