about

Get Fuzzy makes the fur fly. This freshly amusing strip is a darling among readers who enjoy pets with an attitude. This wry cartoon features Rob Wilco, a mild-mannered ad guy who's guardian to two rambunctious pets: Bucky, a temperamental cat who carries a boom box and goes on spending sprees, and Satchel, a gentle canine who tries to remain neutral even when he bears the brunt of Bucky's mischief. Together, this unlikely trio hangs out together, watching TV, cooking for friends, and attempting the occasional adventure outside. Anyone who has a pet or even knows one will find this Get Fuzzy collection, The Dog is Not a Toy, an astutely witty take on relationships between the species.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fuzzy critters, sharp wit The first collection of Darby Conley's imaginative - and wonderfully well-observed - take on life with pets. Covering some of the same gently surreal territory as 'Calvin & Hobbes' and B.Kliban, 'Get Fuzzy' features a cat and a dog revealing their innermost thoughts...and they're just as goofy as you always suspected they'd be. Along for the ride is their Everyman owner, Rob, and his permanent grudge at the universe for convincing him to house furry critters in the first place ("Get a cat, they said. Zero maintenance, they said...") Lots of fun for the sophisticated comics fan and/or pet owner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canada Gets Fuzzy Darby Conley's comic strip "Get Fuzzy" began several years ago, and quickly caught the sharp eyes and funnybones of readers. Now a book's out, starring the funniest dysfunctional family yet: feisty feline Bucky; doggedly patient Satchel; and their human owner-slave Rob Wilco. Unlike other strips, humans and critters all talk, bicker and argue with each other. Wanna know what's REALLY on a cat's or dog's mind? Get Fuzzy and find out!
