Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing novel Truly an amazing novel; this book took me on an adventure, and has taken me on an adventure every time I've read it since then. Honestly, one of my favorite books. I've read it more times than can be remembered.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun Read This book was a very good read. Terry as always is a very clear and descriptive writer with so much attention to detail. Ive read the sword many many years ago and got back into Terry Brooks with his Voyage series and Heritage series then to this original series and I love it. The characters are well detailed which I love. Its right up there for my favorite shannara books. Have fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this book so much Even though I'm still reading the Elf-queen Of Shannara, this book was easily the best one yet, and the scariest. Once I was done I read it over again and found that it would be a really good movie. Obviously Terry Brooks is an extremely excellent author, this book was non-stop action, fun, terror, and all around good writing, I recomend it. But only read this books sequel, The Wishsong Of Shannara, if you plan to read the rest, because the wishsong was terrible and it really hurts to say that. Anyways, try it, you'll like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Was... and still is the best I first read this book while in gr. 5. I loved it so much I checked it out from our school library at least twice a year, until I left to highschool. Upon reading it again, I still love it. It was, and still is the best book i've ever read. Harry Potter, although amazing, is no match for Terry Brook's wording and story lines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filled with suspense Terry Brooks has really kept you up on your feet! Just around the corner you may find a Demon prowling against the shadows of the trees. Another moment you might face an unwelcomed Devil. This book has made me keep on reading, unwilling to put it down!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Elfstones of Shanara I think this book is very descrpitive. It was very high in suspense and full of surprises. It was a little challenging, but I learned a lot of new vocabulary from it. The few pictures I found in the book were very well drawn and they looked very realistic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Amazing I wasn't a big fan of Terry Brooks even after reading a few novels from this author, but after reading this particular shannara novel out of the series I'm reconsidering my outlook towards him. This is simply an amazing book. Yah you do get really peeved at the idiocy of the lead character Wil, but by the end of the book you really feel for all the characters. The story is surprisingly effective and the read is extremely enjoyable. If you like classic types of fantasy, this book has all the elements. Don't expect any forgotten realms type creatures or any wotish characters either. Really...this is a great, classic, fantasy novel. Think Lord of the Rings..without that extreme epic quality. :)
